Why does your work matter?

What experiences do you have to share with others and what value do you offer that only you can provide? Because, if you can’t easily and clearly articulate your vision or the purpose behind your work, you will never be able to convey its importance to others.

Hands down, one of THE most important things you can do to build your platform and grow your career as a writer, is to build an email list.

Few other marketing strategies or promotional tactics will give you a bigger bang for your buck than an engaged community of subscribers that have given you permission to access them via their inbox.

With one email, 10's, 100's or perhaps 1000's of readers can be notified of your newest release, called upon to boost your book reviews or surveyed for their opinion and feedback on your next big project.

But this unprecedented access to your readers can only be established if you create a way for them to eagerly (and efficiently) opt-in to your mailing list.

The 4-Part System to Define and Attract your Target Audience (Part 2: UNDERSTAND)

The more you know about your readers, the more effective your sales and marketing efforts will be.

So, it’s well worth the effort to find out:

who they are,

what books they buy,

and why they buy what they do.

And after the work we did in part one of this series, it may seem like the hard part is done.

In part 1, we tackled the first step in defining your target audience: identifying who it is you wish to reach or serve.

We did some research and asked a whole lot of questions – and I shared ways that you could find the answers to these questions – to create a detailed and specific persona of your ideal reader.
