Are those lessons about #foodallergy safety sinking in? Here's our story.
My older son, Casey, was diagnosed with multiple food allergies when he was still a baby. He has learned to talk, walk, play catch, ride a bike, swim ... and he has learned how to negotiate the sometimes-scary world of food allergies. We have talked to him about how to handle the situation if ...

Do you have questions about cooking with chia, flax, hemp, quinoa and amaranth? Here are some frequently asked questions I get about super seeds.
One of my favorite parts about writing Super Seeds has been getting out and talking to folks about how to increase the nutrition in their cooking by using these little powerhouses. Adding chia, quinoa, flax, hemp and amaranth to everyday favorites is such an easy way to get more protein, fiber, ...

Massaged Kale Salad is just the right dish for warm weather meals!
While cold weather calls for soup, warm weather sings out for salads. Cool, crunchy, nourishing salad. This Massaged Kale Salad from Super Seeds is a lovely canvas on which to add the colors of spring and summer -- sliced fruit and vegetables add interest to this delicious and filling salad.

Here's a chocolate spread everyone can feel good about! My Sunny Chocolate Coconut Butter is full of good stuff (sunflower seeds, coconut, cocoa), but doesn't have anything you don't want! It's sugar-free, vegan, gluten-free, nut-free and DELICIOUS!
I had so much fun working on Super Seeds, that I'm finishing up writing another book. I'll tell you all about it later, but for now, I wanted to share a little something that can not wait until next spring for you to try it. I have said it before, but I'll say it again ... often when you have to ...

It's potluck and barbecue season! What's a person with food allergies or a special diet like vegan or gluten-free to do? Here are my tips for a great party experience.
This is another post that I wrote about Growing Up With Food Allergies. With new people learning about the need for a special diet all the time, I though it would be good to bring it back. Just when you think you have the hang of your special diet (whether it's vegan, gluten-free, ...

Need a party dish this weekend? This simple pasta salad is fresh, delicious and safe for everyone!
Sometimes, simple is better. That's what this pasta salad is -- simple. Crunchy asparagus and juicy tomatoes shine brightly with a lemon dill dressing. I think it's best to make gluten-free pasta salad the day you want to eat it. If you let it sit in the refrigerator over night, the pasta can ...

When your child has food allergies, there are so many worries. I didn't anticipate that my son's first food allergy food challenge would be so scary. Here was how we were feeling before his first challenge five years ago.
I wrote this post five years ago as my son got ready for his first food allergy food challenge. We have since had several challenges with mixed results. As part of my Growing Up with Food Allergies series, I want to update our experiences about food challenges, finding an allergist who fits well ...
