Recent photographic adventures...
Kim Clune originally shared:

The Klotz Silk Mill in Lonaconing, Maryland is every urbex photographer's dream having been sealed, as is, since 1957. Anyone can now  gain legal entry to this time capsule at just $100 for a 4 hour shoot. Any time. The money supports preservation of this last intact silk mill left in America, which is privately owned and, only in the past ten years, opened to photographers. To get your own time in there, it's a simple as making arrangements with 80 year old owner, Herb Crawford, at 301-268-1168 or 301-689-3034.

Learn more about this unique piece of American history from +Joe Newman , one of my fellow shooters on the day I visited with Master +A.D. Wheeler and members of +The Arcanum, a global photography mentor-ship program. Joe wrote this great piece on the mill for Huffington Post.

I certainly wish this was closer to me, Chris. It was about a 7 hour drive, but sooo so worth it. I'll definitely go back.

When Katherine Wright and I photograph a wedding, I feel like an honored guest. I enjoy every single beautiful moment, laugh and cry often, and work to preserve every ounce of love and joy for the lovely couple, their family and friends.

Meet Peter and Alyssa, two beautiful hearts who celebrated a lifetime of love in Killington, VT this spring. Everyone was especially surprised and enchanted when, during their vows, Alyssa read a poem that Peter wrote for her 16th birthday. This was just one of many favorite moments to capture.

My visit to the Eastern State Penitentiary did not disappoint. This is Al Capone's cell. Prisoners were encouraged to create furniture, which they sold to each other as well as to the public. Because they were allowed to do this for money (idle hands and all that), those with enough cash were capable of furnishing their cells as they wished. While I doubt Al Capone worked for his money inside, he certainly had it. So this recreation with furnishings of the day is not beyond the realm of possibility.

The walls would have been painted sea foam green and white at the time, but the prison structure was left to crumble and set for redevelopment until the community voiced their desires to save it. Reopened in it's decayed state, entire sections have been opened to the public for daily viewing with wonderful tours and informative guides.

Thanks to +Erin Riedel for arranging this trip, Master +A.D. Wheeler for showing us the best places to shoot, and the members of +The Arcanum who shot along with me! This was an incredible place and I had an incredible time.

One of my very best photo walk experiences happened while gathered with members of +The Arcanum at Letchworth State Park in Western New York. Guided by master +A.D. Wheeler,  10 of us met, talked, shot, ate, learned, got poured upon twice briefly, and laughed a whole flipping lot. More than an image quest, we bonded as friends, working to keep the group together and helping each other problem solve along the way. It was the perfect adventure for a gorgeous weekend ... and it didn't end there. Watch for silk mill photos from Lonaconing Maryland as that's where we headed next!

All great shots Kim.  I started +1-ing them but it was just too many.  LOL.  There are a few favorites but I'll have to comment on them later.
