I'm going to New Orleans next weekend with some of my favorite people on the planet. I've been away much too long.

Chicago friends, you were looking for a chance to brush up on your negotiation skills, right? Awesome -- here's your chance.

Join us Saturday morning, March 29, at Chicago Women in Publishing's Negotiation Workshop! Everyone is welcome -- the subject matter is not gender-specific and is not tied to the publishing industry.

We're meeting at Open Books, a fantastic used bookstore in River North. Email me for a 10% off discount code: kim@kimbookless.com
See you there!

Come see me tonight!

There are only 6 seats left for the Chicago Writer's Conference panel discussion Writer's Night Out: Secrets of Self-Publishing. We'll cover book editing, book design, and book marketing for self-publishing authors, then Mare Swallow, Founder of the prestigious Chicago Writer's Conference, will moderate a Q&A discussion.

The event is tonight 7-9pm at Lill Street Loft, 4437 N Ravenswood Avenue -- the Montrose Brown Line Station is nearby and there is parking onsite. Admission includes wine and networking before the program begins. The event is nearly sold out so if you'd like to attend, register now!

Leaving soon for Chicago Women in Publishing's panel discussion on self-publishing marketing and distribution.

Mark Levine from Hillcrest Media Group, Inc. was gracious enough to both sponsor the event and trek down here from Minneapolis to share his self-publishing wisdom.

And there will be wine, of course. What's not to love?

Come hang out with us tonight and see how awesome publishing folks can be.

Introduction
I’m rather good with words. I write them, edit them, and help authors turn them into books.

I am a publishing consultant, writer, and editor based in downtown Chicago. I help authors get their books self-published by serving as a single point of contact throughout the book production process. I explain authors' publishing options, help them clarify their goals, assist them with finding excellent self-publishing service providers, and interact with the service providers on the authors' behalf.

I also provide original writing, ghostwriting, content editing, and copyediting for books, web content, marketing materials, and communications pieces.

I founded the Chicago Self-Publishing Meetup Group. Our members are aspiring authors, people who work in the publishing industry, and others who are simply curious about how to create a book. We meet in the downtown Chicago area every other month and offer our members free resources, presentations, guest speakers, and panel discussions.

I’m on the board of Chicago Women in Publishing (CWIP), a member of the Editorial Freelancers Association (EFA) and the American Copy Editors Society (ACES), and a contributor to the national magazine Preservation in Print.

I'm a preservation geek. Occasionally I’ll get up in front of a bunch of strangers and try to convince them to help save a historic building. Sometimes I have to explain that we should save one even if most people think it’s ugly.

My dream is to move to Rome and write about the ex-pat life. I'm still working on a strategy to get there.

I chose the red pill.
