Huge Jury Trail Win

Please join me in congratulating my law partner Keith Kilpatrick on a HUGE JURY TRIAL win yesterday at the Santa Rosa County courthouse in Milton, FL. Our client was facing 60 years in prison on 4 criminal counts. The client was found NOT GUILTY on all counts, resulting in a complete acquittal. The jury system is still alive and well in Florida. Yet, there is still room for improvements in the system. Interested to see what some of you may think needs to be changed in our trial system. What do you think?

The Length of Elation After a Jury Trial Win

A jury trial for a lawyer is the most grouling, exhausting, inspiring, and elating experience one could imagine.  Pure adrenaline pumps into your blood so that the whole process slows down and seems to move in slow motion.  Your mind seems to be moving at normal speed and everyone else seems to be drugged.  You can feel the sword of truth plunge into you or into the witness on the stand.  You can perceive precious momentum lift you or your opponent.   Yet no matter how much you put into it, and how many blows you take or give, there is only one winner in the end.  For the looser, a part of them has died and been forever lost.  A humble caution has been grafted into them and new knowledge has been forever learned.  But for the winner, nothing has been gained but the sweet sweet taste of victory.  To have fought to the death and lived, is to recieve a new increased perception of the sweetness of life.  The winner is rewarded pure elation.  But how long will the winner remain intoxicated by the win, how long will he been under the influence of elation? Probably two or three days, maybe a week?  Maybe a lingering confidence until the next battle is waged, when the score is reset at 0-0.  To the trial lawyers out there, how long does the win last for you?

Florida is called a no fault state because after a car accident in the state of Florida it doesn't matter who is at fault your personal injury protection auto insurance will pay 80 percent of your medical bills up to $10,000. However you must be treated within 14 days from the date of accident and you must have an emergency medical condition diagnosis to receive the full $10,000 in benefits. It is important to know your legal rights after a car accident. #Kilpatrickandnewlin#RelaxWeGotThis

Car accidents are frequent on Highway 98 in Navarre and Gulf Breeze, FL.  Florida is a no fault state.  No fault means that everyone who is insured in Florida must carry person injury protection insurance.  Your personal injury protection will pay 80 percent of your medical expenses and 60 percent of your loss wages up to $10,000.  Therefore, it is called no fault because it doesn't matter who is at fault your insurance company will pay your bills up to $10,000.  However, the amount that personal injury protection (PIP) does not pay is considered out of pocket expenses.  The person who is at fault is responsible for your out of pocket medical expenses, loss wages, and if you have a permanent injury, then the person is responsible for your pain and suffering.  After a car accident It is critical that your injuries are properly documented and that the doctor treating you can properly articulate that you have incurred a permanent injury as a result of the car accident.  The insurance company for the person who hit you will be responsible for properly compensating you for your damages.  The question is do you trust the insurance company to properly compensate you.  If you have questions regarding your damage to your car, your medical bills, or how much your pain and suffering is worth, then call Kilpatrick & Newlin for a free consultation.  We will answer your questions and inform you of your rights after a car accident.  We are personal injury attorneys located in Navarre, FL and remember, who you trust matters.
