Version 1.10 was just pushed to the Play Store and APKmirror:

Support for Android N preview 4 (and supposedly the release version too)
Added 1000 more built in icons, total is now over 2,200
Loads of bug fixes & improvements, including a better compatibility checker and improvements of the reset & apply tile functions to not wipe current tiles
Switched ads from StartApp to AdMob

+Gus Lipkin Nope, there's too much user interaction needed to add/remove tiles for it to actually be viable

Good news!

After over 6 months, I've discovered there is a hidden default value for quick settings, meaning that if for whatever reason my app broke your quick settings, they can be restored!

Why has it taken so long? Because Android doesn't actually use this "default" value by default (which is stupid), instead using "null", and setting that simply wiped the tiles, hence why some have gone missing for some people

I'll include it as a reset in the next update, but if you can't wait, run this in a root terminal:

settings put secure sysui_qs_tiles default

Love emails like this

Stickers for Hangouts was pulled from the play store on the 14th October last year (for silly reasons but hey), and so has not been available for over half a year and yet this guy says I could "break the top 25", "conquer the app stores" and be great for user acquisition. Not likely when it's not been available for 7 months is it.

And how they "saw" the app, I don't know, unless it takes them an absolute age to send emails

Android N Test Release 2
This is an ALPHA BUILD. It has not been tested outside of the emulator, I have no device currently running N and have no plans to run N on my Nexus 5X until at least the second release.

Please note this release will ONLY work on Android N, it will NOT parse on anything below it

Untested features:
- Tile state
- Root (unlikely to work)
- Tasker plugin
- Icon packs
- Pro activation (I assume it works)
If you find any of these to be working, please comment below and let me know

Changes between Release 1 and this:
- Editing tiles is more reliable
- Tiles work over a reboot
- Tiles work when the app is closed
- There's an unused activity with the changes between N's tiles and M's tiles. You can launch it with root by running "am start com.quinny898.app.customquicksettings/.AppIntroActivityN" in a terminal. It handles the resetting too, so it will reset your tiles if you run it

The main differences that you will notice:
Icons are tinted to be white - Solid icons will become solid white shapes. Transparency works.
Tiles must be added manually, like they used to, even with root - This may change as I explore root options later on in the developer previews
Tiles must be deleted manually also

Known bugs:
Resetting the tiles via Reset in the EDIT screen or clearing the data of the app will put it out of sync with the system. If you do one of these, do the other too so they stay in sync

Bugs?
There's bound to be bugs at this stage, report them as you usually would in this community, but please state you are on N and which device you are using

Download

Play Store?
Whilst I may use Play Store Alpha/Beta channels later, this release will not be pushed to the main channel until N is released as right now this version will only support N, the minimum SDK is N, due to SDK restrictions

Quick Tiles  -

Hi

I'm working on making my app that uses Broadcast tiles on M (I know, they weren't supposed to be for users but it worked) to work on N.

I've hit an issue that I don't know if is a bug or is something I'm doing wrong. I have a service that extends TileService and it works fine. The user can add the tile to the QS from the editing menu and the app can communicate with it, setting the label and the like.

The problem is when the device (or in this case the emulator) is rebooted, the tile reverts to the state it was in before the user added it to the quick settings from the edit menu, even though it's actually in the quick settings. getQsTile() in the service returns null and so nothing can be done on the tile, the only way to make it work again is to go into edit, remove the tile, go back out of edit, go back into edit, add the tile, and leave edit again.

Is this intended behavior or a bug?

+Wojtek Kaliciński It seems to be working now, thank you very much!

The only annoyance is the fixed number of tiles but I assume that's intentional and won't change

App Development  -

I'm looking for someone running Android 6.0 with TouchWiz, HTC Sense or LG's skin who wouldn't mind installing and sending a screenshot from a tiny app with no permissions, should take no more than 5 - 10 minutes of your time

Thanks

I'm working on the next update and am trying to reproduce the bug with the tasker plugin and its icons, but cannot

Can someone give exact details on when it doesn't work? Ideally what the configuration for the tasker plugin is and what the tile is set to do in CQS then I can copy it

However, I have managed to fix Android N preview 4 support, have made the configuration screen show the long/double press & short press actions as the caption, and am updating the icons from materialdesignicons (1650 of them) right now. If you have any feature requests, now would be the time to suggest them

I'll need to spend a couple days to see if i continue to encounter the changes not sticking.
I should mention that the issue with the plugin misbehaving persists whether or not the tiles are named, it always edits tile 0, overwrites title and state.
State toggling is confirmed to work though, N dev preview 4, Nexus 6P

I modified Allo with Xposed, allowing it to run with dummy messages (it doesn't allow you to actually use the service)

Good news!

I just pushed version 1.9 to the Play Store, which supports Android 5.0 all the way up to N preview 2.

It fixes the sync bug for all, and marks the end of Google+ exclusive N test releases, from now on any fixes will be on the store.

Changelog:

Merged Android N support into Play Store release
Fixed sync (and other) tiles' states over time

Notes about Android N:
- Icons are always white, they cannot be colour
- You can have a maximum of 10 tiles
These are both Android limitations, I cannot do anything about it

If you need to report a bug, please do so in the community as normal, however please quote which Android version you are using

Android N Test Release 3
This is an ALPHA BUILD. It has not been tested outside of the emulator, Preview 2 has now been released and I am looking into the possibility of running it on my Nexus 5X when I have more free time available

Please note this release will ONLY work on Android N, it will NOT parse on anything below it

Untested features:
- Root (unlikely to work)
- Tasker plugin
- Icon packs
- Pro activation (I assume it works)
If you find any of these to be working, please comment below and let me know

Changes between Release 2 and this:
- Tile state now works
- Addition of new background service that keeps sync & other tiles working

Play Store?
Whilst I may use Play Store Alpha/Beta channels later, this release will not be pushed to the main channel until N is released as right now this version will only support N, the minimum SDK is N, due to SDK restrictions

I was going to publish this version to the Play Store using a workaround but it's giving me errors when installing on older SDKs in the emulator so I'd rather not.

Expect the sync & state fix to make it to the main production release soon

+ja som Confirmed, minor code error on my part that I forgot to make that read from the tile database rather than from memory. Kill the app/reboot = loss of tile. Will fix it and upload a new APK

Speaking of reboots, that's broken in the attached build it seems too, fixed for the next one
