Inspired by Second Life and Minecraft, #Sony is enlisting gamers to build the world of #Everquest for them in a virtual sandbox. Sounds like a great #ux  strategy!

A good #ui  has high conversion rates and is easy to use. In other words, it's nice to both the business side as well as the people using it. This page is a running list of practical ideas to try out. http://goodui.org/

I have a question regarding  'splash' pages. Sites like www.squarespace.com/stories/ and www.spotify.com/uk/video-splash/ have been making use of  full-screen backgrounds with video. From a #UX and #marketing  perspective this has a massive wow factor for potential customers. I have been pitching something like this with a client, but I'm receiving a lot of resistance from the SEO perspective and also hearing that the hosting costs will be large. I'd love to hear opinions on this from the community. Does anyone know how this might impact on SEO and is there any evidence to show whether bounce rates are affected?

About to sit down to watch Apple's WWDC 2013 keynote over on http://www.apple.com/apple-events/june-2013/ (requires Safari 4 to stream, won't work on Chrome). Mostly I want to see just how flat the new design is going to be, and curious about accusations of stealing gestures from Mailbox, Sunrise’s layout, BB10′s back button, WebOS’s multitasking http://techcrunch.com/2013/06/10/ios-7-steals-mailboxs-gestures-sunrises-layout-bb10s-back-button-weboss-multitasking/. #apple   #wwdc2013   #ios7   #mailbox   #sunrise   #bb10   #WebOS   #flatdesign

For the past 16 years I have been working as a User Experience (UX) Designer and User Interface (UI) Designer with a broad portfolio of digital products, spanning web, mobile and interactive experiences. I pride myself in proposing solutions that balance user needs with business goals and technical capabilities.

I believe design should not be considered as an after-thought. The combination of design, technology and business is critical to success because it enables product iteration to happen faster and at a higher resolution. Being fluent in the full design stack, from user research and interaction design to information architecture and communication design means I can take you from prototype to a full featured app.

I also possess a wealth of experience in cooking up start up ventures of my own.

Core skills:

- UX design
- UI design
- Solving interaction design problems
- Identification of Minimum Viable Product requirements (using lean startup methodology)
- Creation of expertly crafted documentation including wire frames, site maps, annotation and technical requirements specifications
- Conducting user experience audits and evaluation of competitors to find and implement new opportunities
- Definition and organisation of user journeys / workflows across multiple projects
- Creation task flow/process flows to inform the experience
- Design of user profiles / journeys for a range of scenarios and role-types for example executives, partners, stakeholders, content team and customers
- Provision of layered design assets (using vectors for retina scaling)
- Developing prototypes of concepts and designs for user testing and client review
- Understanding of the possibilities and limitations of various technologies in order to design appropriate level of interactivity and work closely with the technology team to mitigate the risks
- Quality Control lead for all UX and design work

I have bought a number of plants over the years from Withleigh Nurseries for my garden. They are a friendly family run business, and have a wide range of plants including some unusual ones you can't find in other nurseries. Terry gave me lots of advice about the types of plants that would work in my garden. They also have a great online shop too which I have ordered from and my order came promptly and carefully packaged.Top notch friendly service, I highly recommend Withleigh Nurseries.

If you're ever in the Covent Garden area around lunchtime, this is by far the tastiest, most wholesome food you can get. I cant think of many places in London that you can eat vegetarian food this good. Its not cheap, but you can tell all the ingredients are quality and cooked with love.. You definitely have avoid the lunchtime peak if you want a table, as this place is tiny!

Blue Mountain heralded the rise of the East Dulwich trendyfication - Ive been local for 20 something years and seen all the changes. There's a great offering of food and cakes, which hits the spot. The decor is nice, especially the mosaic work out front - reminiscent of Barcelona. But... the place does feel cramped at weekends. Expect to pay more than average prices. There certainly are a lot of kids about, which I can see is off-putting if you don't have any, but there are other places to go in the area for a quieter bite.

One of the newest and trendiest arrivals in East Dulwich, where you can find some of the finest cakes, teas and coffee in South East London. If you fancy a good quality meal in a wonderful setting, Le Chandelier is the place. I came with my wife on our anniversary, and the food was lovely. The rooms are filled with antique chandeliers and Moroccan influenced mosaics, and the display of in-house made cakes and breads is certain to get your mouth watering. The tea selection features some rare and exotic treats. We've been a few times now, and service isnt quite up to scratch, but the ambiance is quite something, hence the 4/5 stars.

Rye Hotel is a regular destination of ours. The menu at this Gastro pub has something to please everyone: shareable snacks like mezze, spring rolls and tasty main course dishes always fresh tasting and well presented. The atmosphere is great, eclectic victoriana decor, big open fireplace, big comfy sofas (if you get there before the rush) and enough open space to not feel cramped. The staff are generally quite friendly too.

Ive seen some great music and theatre performances at The Albany over the years. Highlights have included surreal clown Paka and his mechanical horse, hip hop theatre by Jonzi D, and rare performances by artists such as Junior 'Police and Thieves' Murvin. They also offer plenty of courses for the whole community. The cafe food is pretty good (although a little expensive), especially when they offer a special menu such as Cuban food (celebrating the anniversary of Che Guevara's death!). With free WiFi access provided by Boundless, this is a great meeting place, and right next door to the fabulous Dickensian thrift market!

This café is tucked away on the outer edges of the East Duwich mainstream. The food is great quality and fresh tasting, with a warm friendly service. Good falafel is hard to find in south london, and the falafel baguette is one the highlights that draws me back for more. My wife is a regular here, because it is friendly and intimate, a great place to catch up with friends over some tasty treats. It can be quite cramped if its busy, but the garden is open during the warmer months.
