Like a Superhero Punch to the Solar Plexus
"Beatrice, let's go. Get in front of me now. Come on!" Bea stalled at the curb. She wouldn't look at me, just down at the ground where she stood on her scooter. Then should looked up. "Excuse me," she said. "What? We have to go now. What are you doing?" "I ...

It's International Child Protection Month: Be a Hoper and a Doer
I'm a hoper . Always have been. Through my early years of growing up in family dysfunction and domestic violence, I stayed a hoper, and I believed that someday we'd all help to counter incivility, bullying, abuse and violence. I'm a hoper. But I'm a doer, t...

To Own Their Own First Takes

Live the Effectual Stretch
Experience the great outdoors! Be one with nature! Revitalize your spirit! Live the effectual stretch! "I want to go camping," said Bryce. "Yes!" echoed Beatrice. "Mama doesn't go camping, girls," said Daddy. "Nope, no camping," said the Mama. "But we can g...
And so it goes. One African safari nearly 20 years ago with one of her best friends and the Mama just can't do the tent camping thing. This was a year after we'd met and I was green-eyed with envy for sure. Of course I wasn't too disappointed when I learned that diarrhea had swept through their ...

Not too long ago I walked along the water and cursed the world. After witnessing major media in all mediums playing and replaying the hateful societal and political rhetoric around us 24/7 -- and then with family, friends and acquaintances echoing it all in person and online -- I just felt done.

Feeling the Ceiling from the Bottom Up
“If you're not gonna tell the truth, then why start talking?” —Gene Wilder And then humbly, from the mouths of babes: "Daddy's going to die first, you know," said Beatrice. "Why do you say that?" I asked. "Because you're the oldest." "Yeah," agreed Bryce. "...
And then humbly, from the mouths of babes: "Daddy's going to die first, you know," said Beatrice. "Why do you say that?" I asked. "Because you're the oldest." "Yeah," agreed Bryce. "Daddy's going to live a long time," said the Mama. "Yes I am." Yes, I am. I feel great. Maybe it's self-deceit, ...

Introduction

I’m currently the Talent Board Vice-President responsible for all aspects of the Candidate Experience Awards program and other Talent Board activites for North America.

I also co-founded the TalentCulture "world of work" community with Meghan M. Biro and continue to develop and co-host the popular weekly TalentCulture #TChat Show (radio show and Twitter chat).

A certified Talent Acquisition Strategist (TAS) and Human Capital Strategist (HCS) by HCI, I have over 17 years of domain expertise and familiarity with the HR and recruiting technology marketplace, including working for and with talent management, talent sourcing and acquisition, video interviewing, assessment, background screening, and training and development providers, helping them to grow and excel their companies.

Before the HR and recruiting technology marketplace, I held multiple leadership positions in B2B and consumer technology marketplace and higher education. My overall business experience includes account management and customer service, marketing, product development, sales, business development, online community management, industry analyst, and being a manager and published writer.

I've also been a top social influencer in leadership, human resources, talent management and recruiting, as well as a prolific "HR business" blogger since 2004. I've also authored multiple articles on marketing, business development, HR, recruiting and leadership, and my first business book titled Tech Job Hunt Handbook was released in December 2012 from Apress. I speak at HR and recruiting industry events and on HR/recruiting/marketing related webinars.

Lastly, I’m an avid reader, a proud father and husband, and write I regularly about responsible parenting at GetOffTheGround.
