I sat less than two feet from the TV. Fixated. My butt glued to the floor. Nothing else mattered except for the singing and dancing monsters, children and adults on the screen. The chill of foggy frosted winter mornings or the scorching summer Central Valley heat made no difference.

The Unapologetic Parents Who Integrate It All
There we were, sitting at dinner, talking away, while the girls watched shows on their iPods. One of us asked Beatrice a question, but she didn't respond. We asked again, and then she quietly and reluctantly answered with one clear disclaimer: "I'm watching...

Our Unfathomable Love Abounds
A dear old friend just lost his son, a young man at the beginning of his adult life. We say we can't imagine, but deep down we can and do. When you have children, you want to believe that they'll live a long life, and of course outlive you, their parents. B...

To Be A Man Of Letters
I'm not a purist. Not by any stretch of the imagination. There are those who prefer longhand, sketching stories in pencil or pen on legal pads. Not me.  No, I can barely read my own printing today. It's progressively gotten worse over the years, especially ...
That's when my grandfather gave me his typewriter, a Remington Noiseless from the 1930's (hence my using the Courier font in this piece). The ribbon was a pain in the butt to manage, but mercy me I loved that typewriter. I typed many a poem, story and class paper on that old machine, ...

The girls listened as we explained why we celebrate the 4th of July. "Do you know what country we live in?" I asked. "Santa Cruz," Beatrice answered. "No, that's the city we live in. The country we live in is --" "California!" Not surprising coming from young kids who experience the literal ...

The Part When Daddy's In Charge
What a difference time in a child's world makes.  One minute they're bubbly molten lava: "I don't want to go anywhere!" And the next, they're outside happily staring down a moth resting on the house. The Mama had gone to visit a friend and Daddy was in char...

Introduction

Currently I’m the Marketing Director for Total Talent at PeopleFluent, the leading total workforce HCM technology company that redefines Talent Management with an innovative Talent Engagement Cloud built around people and not HR processes. I’m responsible for content marketing, product marketing, and social media outreach for our total talent acquisition solutions.

A certified Talent Acquisition Strategist (TAS) and Human Capital Strategist (HCS) by HCI, I have over 15 years of domain expertise and familiarity with the HR and recruiting technology marketplace, including working for and with talent management, talent sourcing and acquisition, video interviewing, assessment, background screening, and training and development providers, helping them to grow and excel their companies.

Before the HR and recruiting technology marketplace, I held multiple leadership positions in B2B and consumer technology marketplace and higher education. My overall business experience includes account management and customer service, marketing, product development, sales, business development, online community management, industry analyst, and being a manager and published writer.

I've also been a top social influencer in leadership, human resources, talent management and recruiting, as well as a prolific "HR business" blogger since 2004. I co-founded the TalentCulture "world of work" community that includes the highly popular weekly #TChat Twitter chat and radio show. I've also authored multiple articles on marketing, business development, HR, recruiting and leadership, and my first business book titled "Tech Job Hunt Handbook" was released in December 2012 from Apress. I’m a council board member of the Candidate Experience Awards and speak at HR and recruiting industry events and on HR/recruiting/marketing related webinars.

Lastly, I'm a proud father and husband, I enjoy reading and write regularly about responsible parenting.
