This is a good read - counter to conventional wisdom around "wellness".

I do not want to sound cliche, but this place changed my life. Honestly. I am stronger, faster, leaner, and happier. Before I joined 14 months ago, I was out of shape and in constant pain. Do I hurt today? You bet. But on my terms. Now I am sore from a ridiculous workout that I did. And proud too! So why do I love this place? First - the Coaches. Our coaches are all wonderful and smart - and they give you the best they have. Everyday. Everytime. Second - the Members. I am so impressed and have grown to depend on all of my peers in CFPV. We all do the workouts. We all suffer together. We all cheer for each other. We all want to beat each other's score, times, weights, etc. Third - the owner Andy White. Andy is unique in all of the world. At times, he is beyond my scope to understand. The rest of the time, I am in awe. His level of detailed understanding and ability to translate that into a meaningful (and short) sentence on how to fix your problem blows me away. Within 1 minute he fixed my form so I could do muscle ups - I am 43, and I am doing muscle ups! He does this all of the time. The man knows his stuff, and he has built an amazing place. Don't let his rough exterior fool you - he is a very cool guy and cares about your fitness. But he does not tell you what you want to hear - he tells you the truth. Case in point - 7 months ago we were at a Member Celebration (yes we go get drinks and eats together as well as lift and run). My wife told Andy how impressed she was that I was working out 4 to 5 days a week, and I was getting in such good shape. Andy told her - "he is not even close to being in shape. In two more years - yes. But he has a long way to go. He'll get there." By the way, I have entered two CrossFit competitions since that day - my first I was 30 out of 30, my second I was 18 out of ~30. Andy was right - I am not even close yet, and I will get there. He will make sure of it. Come try it out. You will know if you want to be part of this in 1 workout. Once you do join - I doubt you ever leave. p.s. My wife joined as well and loves it more than I do!
