If you recall, we recently modernized one of Panama's Bell helicopters to bring the avionics up to cutting-edge and extend the functionality of the aircraft. Here is a great video about this project, so have a look at our handiwork and tell us what you think!
The video is in Spanish, but here's a rough translation of what they're saying throughout:
"Look, the reason to modernize the cabin of the 412 is that us, as aviators, can’t afford to be left behind. And as the technology moves forward, we need to move forward with it. We used to have a 412…sorry, a 212…that we upgraded the windshield, and we wanted to upgrade to a full 412. We thought this made the most sense, because of its similarities to the 212. The opportunity that this upgrade gives us is that it will help us maintain a group, or specific service inside our country at an international standard, because this we can aid other countries with this high level of equipment. Our goal is to raise the level of technology and service, to be able to provide the quality that is necessary.
The SENAN is a federal service branch, much like the Ministry of Security. It’s a national security entity that was formed in 2008, which lead to the creation of the Naval Air Force, who’s responsibility is to protect the air and sea for locals and foreigners, as well as guarding the border. Our role, working together with other forces, is to cover the air and assist in the capturing and interception of boats, fugitives, and also aid the state in civilian missions, helping the state when needed. We also provide community service, and work together with the National Police and Border Patrol. We are moving toward the future with the new modernized equipment, because as you know, technology continues to move forward and advance. This is why we felt that modernizing was the best step, as our previous equipment had run its course so usefully."
