Just put a new kojipkgs squid cache in place.

Hopefully it will make builds a bit faster and downloads for popular rpms better. :)

One less machine in puppet and on rhel6 is a win for me.

Have you ever wanted to figure out something related to some Fedora Infrastructure applications, but needed to query the database directly to figure it out? well, wait no more...

Updated nightly dumps of koji, datanommer (all fedmsgs), pkgdb2, and tagger are available for your data mining pleasure.

Yeah, I filter a LOT of things into their own folders. Still, lots also go to my main inbox for dealing with. ;)

30 days! made it...

Not going to keep going with daily posts, but will try and post more often I think.
Well, looks like I managed to do it: a blog post every day for 30days (all of november). :). I did have a few times, especially toward the end where I was at a loss for topics. I didn't want to repeat myself or go over the same things, but yet wanted them to be interesting.

I get tremendous value out of running a rawhide virt cluster for testing. The recent gcc 5 update is a good example: I already know how it's going to affect the upstream projects I care about and rawhide let me do that without building gcc myself. Sure it's annoying when I try to update and there are unsigned packages but I'm happy to know that's going to be a not-a-problem in the future. Thanks to everyone working on it!

Yesterday was the 25th anniversary of the pale blue dot photo. Take a minute to go and look and think on just how small our little corner of the cosmos is.

"The average handful of beach sand has about 10,000 grains in it, about the number of stars we can see in the sky on a clear night. But that is just the smallest fraction of the stars that are. There are more stars in the universe than all the grains of sand on all the beaches of the entire planet earth"
Yesterday was the 25th anniversary of the Voyager 1 spacecraft taking one of the most iconic photographs in history: Earth, as seen from over six billion kilometers away. It was taken under the urging of Carl Sagan, and NASA commanded the spacecraft to rotate so that the camera would take...

If you follow the git commit/log history, XFCE is still under constant development albeit not as fast as other DE's.

http://git.xfce.org/?s=idle

One of the reasons XFCE is my choice of environment is their very conservative release cycles, and they don't deviate much from their core focus.

I'd expect 4.12 to land sometime soon, but in a lot of ways they mirror the old Slackware ideal that "It's ready when it's ready."  I've been looking forward to the improved multi-monitor support in 4.12 among other things and hope it's released soon.  Questions around Wayland support are still out there and haven't seen much around it yet.
