Great post, Kaitlin. This is such an important passage, "When I did teach, it was regarding skills that they needed for the project rather than information and details." When information and details are now easily found with a quick search, we can spend less time on delivering content and more time building curiosity and purpose while inspiring students to create novel intellectual connections, which is what you're doing with this project ... and what historians do, right?
“Picture a classroom...the first thing most of us think of is a square room with rows of desks….this traditional classroom space is the product of an industrial-era model education. Just like factories, schools were designed ...

This pic keeps popping up at the top of my Google+ and it cracks me up every time. Turkeys in general are chuckle inducing creatures.

Huge development. #winning

Two big new features in #GoogleClassroom today: add multiple teachers to your class, and save draft assignments until they're ready to post. http://goo.gl/PEo8rh

A small part of our year-long Code+Design project to create an interactive mobile site for York School's outdoor lab. These brass QR codes will be mounted around the 100 acre property to teach visitors about the ecosystem.

+Grace Khieu, you performed beautifully and stuck the landing at #tedxyorkschool . Now you're going to need to coach the next year's group of speakers!

TEDxYorkSchool was a success. Thank you so much York School & +Kevin Brookhouser, as well as everybody else who made this event possible. Also, I'd like to congratulate the speakers, who presented beautifully - Shana, Tim, Scott, Ms. Parsons, Austin, CJ, and Montana. & just in case you were curious, you can watch the past live stream here: http://goo.gl/JlPq6N [mine starts at 1:53:49 (http://goo.gl/bABUHs)], but the official videos (with better audio) will be out in May. :)

Going live on Google Forms and Flubaroo in 25 minutes.

In this age of technology, no teacher should ever have to grade a multiple-choice or fill-in-the-blank assessment again. Let your computer do that by building quizzes using Google forms and use the Add-on Flubaroo to grade the assessment. Students can take the quiz using their computer or mobile device. Then teachers can run Flubaroo to instantly grade the quizzes and distribute them to students automatically through email. The whole process is easy and fast.

Presenter:

Kevin Brookhouser, Author & Google Certified Teach, York School

What you can win by attending this session:

- Free gCON swag box
- Official gCON t-shirt

To help inspire innovation and creativity, Google offers employees 20% of their time to work on a project of their choosing. Teachers who offer the same to their students can meet learning goals while creating powerful experiences that lead to increased motivation, creativity, and divergent critical thinking. This presentation will outline how to inspire teachers to organize a 20% program in middle and high schools across curricula, how to effectively communicate the rationale of the program to administrators, parents, and students, and how to execute the program so students are able to manage their time effectively for a successful final project.

This session is part of Education on Air, the free online conference from Google. Register for free at http://goo.gl/Gkww6N.

These guys are solid. Came out and gave an easy estimate. They were very careful with furniture and floors. Friendly. On-time. They do great work. Highly recommended.

Adam came to my house on-time, identified the problem quickly, solved the problem effectively, and provided a fair price. If you need rodents out of your property, this is the guy to call. I will definitely refer him to others.
