It starts with Facebook, and the pay to play model will likely make its way to Google and Twitter as well...
It was good while it lasted. If you are a business/organization/nonprofit/brand who has a presence (a Page) on Facebook, you've noticed a curious trend over the past few months. Namely, your posts ...

That is too bad. I'll bail as soon as I see it happening.

Can't say that I always agree with Henry Blodget, but I think this analysis of the current ACA Gov't shutdown is spot-on.

They lost their attempt to control more than the House just last Fall. It was called an election.Time to stop the grandstanding and do what they can to keep the economy recovering. This is not helping anything except their over inflated egos.

With #iOS7, I'm finding things I like (Control Center) and dislike (smaller home screen folders). Overall, I have to agree with the many voices that say this is some really terrible design. I am a text person, and even I think that way too much of the text usage is unbounded, ungrounded, and non-contextual. Apple has also taken real usability steps backwards with their calendar, by ditching the agenda view. If I were Tempo or Cue, I'd be racing with updates.

That said, it's just a phone. Focus on the work, not the tool :^)

The comments on the Mark Hamill Reddit AMA just classic: http://t.co/KxVMVK2sf7. Feels like Reddit was made for this one event.

Wow. I'm really surprised to hear that Apple is buying Cue. This has been one of the most useful services that I have used in the past couple of years because it's one of the few services that lets me seamlessly search across all of my different cloud and email services. I agree with the analysis in this article, but I'm also a bit sad that a service that does such a great job of blasting THROUGH services, is now going to be silo and into ONE service.

This is a fascinating exploration of big data and psychology (and hilarious in reference to the gender word clouds). Study design was also interesting - linking a Facebook questionnaire with status updates, and building models based on that.

The latest update of the +Google Chrome  browser seems to be a real clunker if you use Apps. Luckily their announcement comment thread is replete with tips on how to disable the worst parts of it.

Speed is one of the core tenets of Chrome, and starting today, we’re rolling out a feature that can make searching faster and simpler with a streamlined New Tab page. If you use Google as your default search engine, the next time you open a new tab in Chrome the search bar will be front and center, allowing you to search right away. You’ll also be able to check out current Google Doodles. This feature is built on open APIs so any search engine can create their own ‘new tab’ page in Chrome. Let us know what you think.

Check out this Chromium blog post for more info: http://goo.gl/K0HhoI
When you're searching for information, speed matters. We're always thinking about how to shave milliseconds from every search you do, throughout our products. Last year, we started testing a feature in Chrome to make searching from a new tab faster and simpler. If you use Chrome's Developer or ...
