The New York Series: Day 7 Image 2

The final image from the #newyork adventure,
At the World Fair site in Flushing Meadows–Corona Park there is a huge metallic globe (it has appeared in a lot of films over the years) and one of the guys actually noticed this shot potential before I did. The planes were taking off from La Guardia airport and it was just a matter waiting for the right plane on the right heading to pass through the framing.

So no more images from New York any more, and only took 3 months to post them :P

The New York Series: Day 5 Image 8

This day is most certainly drawing to a close, Its ticking midnight, and the last stop of the day is the Empire State Building. Best time of the day to visit is the middle of the night, it's open late, no queues for security, straight to the top and no queuing for space to get "that" shot. Which means I fired off a load of shots from the top and will only show one from here.

This shot is looking north towards central park, with times square off to the left.

To me this is what New York is, it really does never sleep.

The New York Series: Day 5 Image 6

After travelling over to Staten Island we disembarked an then boarded again to head straight back to Manhatten, this time reeled off a few shots finally of Lady Liberty again, it was surprising to me see the dockyards of Staten Island behind it, to me it was like one of those shots you see of the pyramids in Egypt, with the urban sprawl right behind, get the angle wrong and you see things you wouldn't associate with the view.

The New York Series: Day 5 Image 5

So been on most modes of transport in the past week and today was the turn of the boat and the free ride on the Staten Island Ferry, best view of Lady Liberty we are reliably told. This is shot is just from departure from the terminal and taking in the sheer height of Lower Manhattan and the Financial District.

After clearing the City Hall hall area and randomly bumping into some more of our party on their own search for Denny's, we heading down into Wall Street, no wolves here but this next shot is one that summed up New York city planning, a Church surrounded by high rise modernity, coming from the UK a Church is typically the highest point (or at least always visible) in most towns and cities. Also a little seen POV of Wall Street.

Back on the New York thing again,

The New York Series: Day 5 Image 1

Day 5 was quite possibly the hottest day of the week must have notching high 20's, so of course the sensible thing to do is take a long walk in the hot sun  Deciding to walk across the #Brooklyn Bridge from the Brooklyn side and over into #Manhatten. It is quite surprising how long the bridge and just how busy it is with tourists, however it is a great experience and vistas are teriffic from the bridge, so if you are fed up of seeing more tall buildings look away from the next set!
First image is of one of brickwork supports that hold up the bridge.

The New York Series: day 7 Image 1

So the final day of images (for those who have noticed, there is no day 6, I decided to see New York through my eyes and not through a viewfinder)

The final day took us for a hot morning stroll through Flushing Meadows park up in Queens.
The First shot is of a statue called The Rocket Man (no not of Elton John!)

The New York Series: Day 5 Image 7

So the fifth day of the New York Adventure was drawing to a close, and almost time for the shot I was really after on this day. Sunset was steaming in and working in a narrow window of time before we had to scoot over to the Empire State Building to meet a couple of the other guys.

The sunset is falling behind Manhattan and the lights of the high rises are just starting to creep on.

The New York Series: Day 5 Image 3

At the end of the Brooklyn Bridge as we touched down on the #manhattan side, outside the City Hall Subway stop, we stumbled on this street acrobatic performance, sensing a particular kind of image I anted to shoot we hung around for a while and finally snaffled the shot. 7 Images shot one after the other of the guy somersaulting, then all 7 shots merged into one image, possibly the largest composite image I have put together and certainly the hardest with the amount of detail and movement between each frame!

Continuing to cross the Brooklyn Bridge and the sprawl of Manhattan starts to loom even larger. Looking towards the business districts which is our next destination.

The New York Series: Day 4 Image 3

Continuing along the meandering Highline Park heading towards the Meatpacking District you get some great opportunities for #cityscape photography, but one thing that really dawned on me this day was that the Empire State Building is so iconic to #NYC it really is visible for almost anywhere on #Manhatten

Spitalfields map and transport links

Spitalfields E1 next to Old Spitalfields market. An eclectic range of retailers and restaurateurs for visitors to enjoy.

Not a typical Primark customer however one to avoid on a weekend, staff seemed disinterested, especially on the fitting rooms, chatting to other staff about non work topics. Best time of the day to go in is first thing on a weekday, quiet tidy and staff have actually checked stock out the back for me, this is never entertained on a weekend, with the general response being " everything is out" However till service is always quick here even with large queues they go quickly, only time you get held up is with other customers faffing around.

Standard Nando's to visit, however very clean everywhere. Didn't have to wait long to order my food at the till, of which was taken accurately first time round. Waited around 10 minutes for food, which came temperature hot so knew it wasn't sat on the side for a period of time. Ordered a Medium spice but didn't seem as hot as other Nando's around London, but definitely hotter than lemon and herb. Overall really nice restaurant and one I repeat back to often and always get the same impression as above every time.
