A must-watch inspirational story & heartwarming real life example of the proverb “give man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.”

Veronica wanted to design a coat that transforms into a sleeping bag for a school project, but ended up doing much more than that. She gave people using homeless shelters one thing they needed most - a J O B.

Now that capital markets are definitely paying attention, we've reached a tipping point for collaborative economies & I couldn't be happier. Everyone matters & everyone has value.

"With nearly $2.5 billion invested in startups and sharing services over the last six months of this year, there’s no telling how much further the collaborative economy will extend its reach. But I think we can all agree that the collaborative economy is quickly shifting us away from a “throw-away society” towards a community that only obtains and maintains the services and goods we need, when we need them."

“I think B Corporations will make more profits than other types of companies.”—Robert Shiller, 2013 Nobel laureate in Economics

Is Shiller right? Will we see more heeding consumer’s call for more social responsibility? Will cause marketing become integral to business success?

We spend January 1st walking through our lives, room by room, drawing up a list of work to be done, cracks to be patched. Maybe this year, to balance the list, we ought to walk through the rooms of our lives ... not looking for flaws, but for potential. ~ Ellen Goodman

With AmazonSmile, Amazon's charitable giving is clashing with their same-sex equality values but they don't seem to care - yet another strike undermining the authenticity of their cause marketing.

Gotta call a spade a spade. By punting to other groups to filter out those "unworthy" of participating, Amazon shows its true colors and motives: AmazonSmile was not set up to truly make a difference but rather to appease and attract customers and it is painfully clear in its execution.

Until companies like Amazon step up and make a authentic commitment to truly make a difference and drive funds to the smaller nonprofits doing most of the local difference making, this program does nothing other than continue what many other big corporate giants are doing with their corporate giving programs: fueling the disparity in funds between the big fish and the little fish.

Do you agree?
