Closing with a Creed
Public worship events end. They're formal, scheduled things, so they must - but it's more than that. The fact that our little community of Christians can't just stay together all the time because we have lunch plans isn't the real, or at least the primary, ...

Confession of Sins: Psalm 130 & 2 Corinthians 5:17-21
For use in corporate worship or in a small group setting (family, Bible class, etc.) The "leader" will have to be the impetus for each section of Psalm 130. One of the most appealing aspects of this confession is that the only words spoken out loud are stra...

Responsive Reading: Psalm 98 & John 1
The more opportunities we have to speak the scriptures, the better. Here's a responsive reading using Psalm 98 and selected verses from John 1. It might be useful around Christmas, or for a service that focuses particularly on Christ as the fulfillment of t...

My church published a song! It's great, and you should check it out.
Click here to preview and purchase "Give Thanks to God on High" as performed by Illumine. How many of you, without looking, know the words to the hymn Give Thanks to God on High? It sounds like it would be the fanfare of every Thanksgiving service ever, right? While it certainly works as a general thanksgiving hymn, it actually has a much narrower focus. Through the four verses of this hymn, we thank God for 3 specific things: 1...

I hear you brother Pastor, and I can even clap to it on 2 and 4, and praise Him in the dance! Oh, wait, is that forbidden in the BoC too?

One Way to Use Luther's Confession Explanation in Public Worship
During the month of August 2014, Illumine Church, Rock Hill, SC had a sermon series on education and spiritual growth. For our confession time at the beginning of the service, Martin Luther's explanation of confession from the Small Catechism was very usefu...

I'm the pastor - so I'm biased. Nevertheless, I have seen an incredible community of people begin to grow here. They are humble, wise, and inspired, and they give credit where it belongs. Fantastic thing to be involved with.

These guys are awesome - quick responses, great selection, excellent prices. I'd recommend them to anyone. My one thought for improvement has nothing to do with their sales or service - they could just do more to make their building, which has a cool and retro exterior feel, reflect the quality of the interior and, more importantly of their excellent work.

It's not uncommon to see a line of cars waiting to get washed at Quick C, and there are plenty of good reasons for that. The staff is friendly and helpful. The managers are good and quick to serve. Most of all, the price is right and when it's all said and done, your car is clean. I'm pleased to have them in the neighborhood.

Grace is a community of kind and friendly people who are working to bring hope to the world. Everything they do is focused on connecting people to a God who loves them and who gave everything for them. They run an excellent early childhood program.

While there are some good things at Grumpy's, particularly the hamburgers, the service and the pricing aren't ideal. The outdoor seating area is definitely the best place to sit, weather permitting. The menu could also include some healthier options. Overall, not a bad establishment at all - just one that has room for subtle improvements that would make it excellent.

I'm a Rock Hill resident, and Coin Laundry offers everything you'd look for in a laundromat. The machines (of many sizes) work well and the place is fairly clean. It is conveniently located and offers WIFI. Like a few places in town, it could use an update on the storefront, but that's much less important than the fact that Coin Laundry accomplishes its purpose well.
