Just a thought for the next time. When you're cutting the outer ring, cut it straight instead of at an angle. In this case it wouldn't have mattered because of the catch, but having that top ring be straight sided gives you some options for the rim. I did one where I was able to undercut the top just a little which gave a finger hold/solid place to hang on to the bowl.

Nice job though, and nice recovery. I had a segmented hollow form that caused me the same issue - a catch popped off the top ring. So the hole ended up a bit larger than was planned, but unless I were to tell you it wouldn't be noticeable. It's nice when an issue is able to be recovered from. Just another design opportunity :)

Thanks for sharing your work.

This just seems a bit odd to me. American Airlines has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy but will keep flying a normal schedule using their $4.1 billion in cash.

How do you have $4.1 billion in cash and still file for bankruptcy? Clearly I am not a finance major.

It can be as simple as having a debt come due that is much larger than the amount of cash, and have nobody willing to offer continued financing of the debt.

I just heard that, after a long illness, Dennis Ritchie (dmr) died at home this weekend. I have no more information.

I trust there are people here who will appreciate the reach of his contributions and mourn his passing appropriately.

He was a quiet and mostly private man, but he was also my friend, colleague, and collaborator, and the world has lost a truly great mind.

A story of the silent battles we fight inside ourselves. Hopefully one person sharing can help make it better for others.
If you follow me on twitter you already know that I’ve been battling off one of the most severe bouts of depression I’ve ever had. Yesterday it started to pass, and for the first time in weeks I cried with relief instead of with hopelessness. Depression can be crippling, and deadly. I’m lucky that it’s a rare thing for me, and that I have a support system to lean on. I’m lucky that I’ve learned that depression lies to you, and that you should nev...

I was reading the bloggess's comments and saw yours- as someone who has parents that don't really understand - or make much of an effort to - it warmed my heart to see a Dad trying to understand his daughter better.
