Are you going to Ohio Linux Fest? I have a ticket for the Keynote Dinner if you would like to attend.

A child's exposure to technology shouldn't be predicated by the ability to afford it.

Ah, no WONDER I never found that pot of gold.

Reminds me of my last time share deal in Miami.

That does explain a lot. I did not know rainbows were a full circle.

In cases like this, I am glad to be proven wrong.  It's good to see FB users standing up for what few rights they have left.  Am in the middle of re-downloading some of the pics I've posted there over the years.  Some of them only dwell in my FB account.  Once that is done, so am I.  I simply cannot justify using FB anymore.  If I need to talk to friends and family, we can use email.

We finally got a real temperature-dropping cool front for Central Texas this week. Up until now, the daily temps have been in the 90s with a couple of days in the high 80s. I just brought Astro in from his evening walk and I am such a sissy when it comes to the cold, I put a sweater on.

One of my favorite writers, +glyn moody; brings up a good point and it's worth the read.  But there's another issue...even when a user becomes fully cognizant of how bad Windows can be, they still cling to using it.  The "I have to use it for work" folks get a pass here.  This rarely applies to them.

This is probably a completely politically incorrect statement, but I'm going to share it anyway because...uh, let's see...where did I put that reason.....

Oh yeah,  Here it is.  I remember now.

I don't care.

A good number of my clients still refuse to use Linux, even as a dual boot solution or when I have provided them a fully-functioning Windows system via Virtualbox.  It dawned on me a while back that a lot of these people displayed hints of abused person syndrome.

The denial, the "hope they will change" reason to stay, even the fruitless intervention by friends.

In my experience, the pain threshold for these people is extremely high.  So whether it was a good comparison or not, that's the way I've interpreted it for the past few years.

Introduction
Works as the founding director of Reglue, formally The HeliOS Project.  Reglue accepts broken or decommissioned computers, upgrades them, then gives them to children who would not normally be able to afford one.
