I just got back from an offsite and one group committed to no email on a particular day (we're starting small). This is the auto-response I got from one of the members
Very true and rather accurate, Bill, but from all of the folks I know who have been doing this innovative way of OoO messages they always have got a time constraint behind it and it is not in the months or years, but more in the weeks, if anything, just to provoke the change, the think before you send mentality for follow-up notes, so that folks would know how the game has changed. And when not accepted, what's the first thing that people keep doing? Errr, pick up the phone and ask: "What the ... was that?!?! Explain please", which is just the perfect icebreaker to help them think and act different understanding the new opportunities. There is just so much more than can be said orally than in writing that some times a phone call of two minutes sets the right mindset into the whole conversation :)
