This is straight talk that cuts through the fluff and puff and asks us to look at what we are doing right, what we're doing wrong and what we can do better. We need to discern what's actionable to make progress.
There's no more important criticism than self criticism. There's no amount of external validation that can undo the constant drone of internal criticism. And negative self talk is hungry for external corroboration. One little voice in the ether that agrees...

Thankfulness is the best mental health practice known to mankind!

There is always, always, always something to be thankful for

When you wake up in the morning and your eyes open, you have something to be thankful for.
If the sun rose and there's still an atmosphere above, you have something to be thankful for.
If your arms move and your legs can touch the ground, you have something to be thankful for.
When a thought comes in your head and you're able to vocalize it to the world, you have something to be thankful for.
If you have shelter to sleep under and food to eat, you have something to be thankful for.
If you take a deep breath and oxygen fills your lungs, you have something to be thankful for.
If you've given birth or are the parent of a healthy child, you have something to be thankful for.
No matter who you are, or where you're at in life, if you still have life, then there's always something to be thankful for. - +Billy Funk

He always has great advice and he looks like such a nice guy!

Just popped this up as a new cover photo. It was one of my most RT'd tweets last year - hope it is still relevant!

I love Mel's blog.  Check out the links for some faith building encouragement.
Having the confidence to believe in ourselves doesn’t come easily for a lot of us. We often limit ourselves because we don’t feel like our gifts or talents are good enough, or that other people are better than us. We don’t give things a go because we hold ourselves back through fear and lack of self-belief. Yet, God doesn’t want us to live like this. He wants us to have the faith to believe that we CAN do it and {Read More}

Ann Voskamp brings a clarity to the current trend of seeking a platform. A timely reminder for every Christian, 'He must increase and I must decrease'. It's no surprise that the Kingdom of God is governed by completely different principles than this fallen world!
This week The High Calling is exploring the idea of "platform" -- and they asked if I'd join them & write into the idea of platform for writers and the Kingdom of God... {stay tuned for exciting things coming this week for our little community?} When that plucky Jennifer Lawrence

According to CCAD every week two anonymous intruders have been sneaking into classrooms on campus, leaving some cool chalkboard messages with the signature, #dangerdust. It captured the attention of the students and are now shared far and wide through social media.

Sorry about the sunglasses, I'd been for a follow-up appointment with a Retinal Specialist and they dilated my eyes. It was too bright outside without the sunglasses!

Introduction
I'm a pastor's wife, but wait, before you draw all sorts of stereotypical conclusions, if we met you'd like me.  Why?  Because I like people.  I find them fascinating.  Even the ones that don't agree with my faith in God.

I live near Sacramento, but left my heart in Newport Beach.
Bragging rights
My mother didn't allow bragging. But, I have an awesome husband and impressive kids.
