Sitrep-Op in support of www.youcaring.com/rabidcowfunds
Z Field of a Lifetime
This will not be your typical sit-rep.
There will be no mention of agents that were active in the field or helped with planning and operating. The words here are NOT my own, but a collaboration of many, from BOTH factions. The common thread in all of this is that WE did it. Nothing that went on here would have happened without serious teamwork & community effort!
When local Enl agent RabidCow, +Kyle Z
died unexpectedly, it brought an otherwise volatile community together like never before in honor of a life well loved.
Every agent involved, in honor of RabidCow, set their ego aside. Prior to this op, many agents involved would not have wanted to be within scanner range of each other. Yet, all worked together and never said a single bad word in planning and execution in order to make the fields fly. (Okay, maybe one agent does not like rare steak.)
On Saturday, May 2, 2015, Houston lost an agent much loved by both factions.
If you are a Houston ENL agent, you will remember +Kyle Z
(RabidCow) as an excellent teammate with a big heart and a great sense of humor.
If you are a Houston RES agent, you will remember him with the same heart & humor but might trade excellent agent for worthy adversary or annoying (in a good way) nemesis.
Before word of the loss of his spirit had even gotten out to both communities, a room was set up to plan a memorial field for him. Being as fond as Zorro is of his surname “Z”, it was decided to honor him with a similar representation. A small z would cover his home, the funeral home and immediate play area. A large Z would cover the local cell and bleed over into adjoining cells.
Before that room was even up, there were already areas in place to donate to +Ashley Z
(punkineater) to help with the memorial funds & providing money in this trying time as well as meals to serve Ashley, her kids and the family and friends that would be coming in for the services.
A tremendous amount of communication went through the Houston and surrounding area community (which is not well known for anything cross-faction) in order to make this happen. A huge amount of communication was put forth in order to request the fields decay naturally. The fields went up and remained standing, with honor, for a considerable amount of time.
Messages were sent in ALL COMM daily from several different areas to ensure the message was heard even if an agent was only looking at 5km COMM. Private messages were even sent to those who did not generally check COMM. A planning and ops group of over 60 people was assembled and messages were sent to those who may not have been aware of what was happening.
There was the inevitable transfer of keys and 100s of miles driven by multiple agents on both sides for a successful op. This op, given the area and people involved, had an aire of well-organized chaos to it that allowed it to go off, in a timely manner, with orchestral precision.
Besides the requisite keys being farmed and transferred, gear (including Ultra strikes), were traded from team to team in order to keep as many as possible of RabidCow's resonators active.
A smurf, who sacrificed an admittedly young guardian for the cause noted "I'm surprised at the precision and care that was taken to make these fields." He said that AFTER his young guardian was killed, some green and blue links were so close that one could almost touch them. In fact, one 100m accidental blocker almost killed the plan to throw a 90km field. One frog even used an ADA in order for yet another layer to go up in honor of Kyle. That layer made it so the frog could not see the road on his scanner as he finally headed home.
One frog mistakenly took out a blue anchor after the first z field went up. Unexpectedly, the first to get angry about it were frogs.
Smurfs in a small town during the throw of Z2 threw derp links that caused major problems. Smurfs involved in the op cheered as loudly as the frogs when the ENL agent burnt the town down to the ground to make sure the fields would go up and no other derp links could fly.
Efforts made by the community to honor Kyle & support the family were so impressive to non-Ingress family and friends that the statement was made, “It makes you want to play the game just to meet the awesome people”.
This operation was not about stats or personal glory, but rather a community of Enlightened and Resistance alike, coming together to honor a fallen comrade and offer their love and support to the family. It is times like this, when we see the community come together against all odds, that Ingress stands out the most to show "the world around you is NOT as it seems" but rather one that offers hope and heart in a time when it is most needed.
Kyle is survived by his wife Ashley and 4 children, parents, a brother and a wide array of extended family. Leaving this life at the young age of 35, Kyle had no prearrangements or life insurance. With concern, the local Ingress community has come together to set up a memorial fund for Ashley and the children @ www.youcaring.com/rabidcowfunds +Joe Philley +Linda Besh +Susanna Moyer +Ethan Lepouttre +Ingress +NIA Ops #Ingress #Enlightened #Resistance #SitRep #agentstory #nopants4life #Ingressisreal #IngressReport #uhem
