Back to what I usually do. Went exploring today along the gas line road behind our new property.

I think this is an interesting look at our changing climate in the Northwest. The photo on the left was taken at Crystal Mountain Resort near Mt. Rainier on September 4, 2011. The one on the right is virtually the same spot on the trail, just looking back, taken yesterday. The flowers are in the same stage of bloom, but two full months early. Pools that were there on the first trip are almost completely dry this year.

+Lora Timonin, you are certainly right about year to year conditions, especially in the mountains where the season is so short. I have been hearing that this is one of the earliest blooming seasons on record, but I think the September one was a little later than normal. Usually late July through August would be considered normal. I have noticed changes in the lowlands though. Over the last several years my apples have been ripening earlier. We used to pick blackberries in September for my daughter's birthday. Now they are done by end of August. It's interesting to watch, and a little scary!

For +FloralFriday with +Beth Akerman, +Tamara Pruessner, +Eustace James and +Kiki Nelson. One of the very last photos of my beautiful rose from our old garden. Loving our new place but I do miss that plant!

So, I have been told I should be ashamed of myself for posting photos of starving horses and that I am ignorant because if you can see any ribs on a horse at all, that means of course they are malnourished. This image is for +Andrea A. It's the same gray in the earlier photo. Please show me his ribs. Where is the bony spine on the topline that is indicative of a starving horse? He's hardly fat but fat is not healthy either.

I love animals. I don't watch regular horse racing because I have seen so many horses die on the track. These young men rescue many TBs that would otherwise end up in slaughter houses. The horses often compete in their teens. Are there horses among this type of racing that are abused? Probably, as there is sadly always someone in every group of horse owners on the planet who will abuse their horses. I've seen it at regular horse shows many times. It does not mean that they are all abused.

Story
Introduction
I'm a photographer from Gig Harbor, Washington, who loves florals, food, fall, animals, and abstracts. I volunteer with several local animal shelters, taking photos to help with adoptions and marketing.

I'm not very good at all this social media stuff, so I'll probably get Google + figured out just about the time something else new and wonderful comes along! But I'm trying :-)
