The recent kernel updates to Fedora 21 meant I could not use my bluetooth touchpad or keyboard with my desktop. Was digging into options then I figured "screw it and run FedUp", so Fedora 22 BETA is incoming.... :-)

You will be missed Sir Terry...

“All right," said Susan. "I'm not stupid. You're saying humans need... fantasies to make life bearable."

REALLY? AS IF IT WAS SOME KIND OF PINK PILL? NO. HUMANS NEED FANTASY TO BE HUMAN. TO BE THE PLACE WHERE THE FALLING ANGEL MEETS THE RISING APE.

"Tooth fairies? Hogfathers? Little—"

YES. AS PRACTICE. YOU HAVE TO START OUT LEARNING TO BELIEVE THE LITTLE LIES.

"So we can believe the big ones?"

YES. JUSTICE. MERCY. DUTY. THAT SORT OF THING.

"They're not the same at all!"

YOU THINK SO? THEN TAKE THE UNIVERSE AND GRIND IT DOWN TO THE FINEST POWDER AND SIEVE IT THROUGH THE FINEST SIEVE AND THEN SHOW ME ONE ATOM OF JUSTICE, ONE MOLECULE OF MERCY. AND YET—Death waved a hand. AND YET YOU ACT AS IF THERE IS SOME IDEAL ORDER IN THE WORLD, AS IF THERE IS SOME...SOME RIGHTNESS IN THE UNIVERSE BY WHICH IT MAY BE JUDGED.

"Yes, but people have got to believe that, or what's the point—"

MY POINT EXACTLY.”

3D print your bike parts!

Got a Triumph and a 3D Printer? Here's a bag mount for you.

I bought a bag to put on the front of my Triumph. The straps did not work out well. I recently got a 3D printer. I made mounts to hold the bag. These worked out real well.

I made the 3D file available for others who might want to do the same:

Introduction
Hi there,

At various times I have been a tinker, sailor, soldier, biker. Just moved industries from academia into the motorcycle industry. The Triumph & Ducati person for the Republic of Ireland. Call into me Dublin Triumph or Rosso Ducati Ireland.

Motorcycles have been the love of my life, and have ridden since the age of 17 (still yet to get a cage licence). Previously loved bikes have included Suzuki's, Kawasaki's and Buell's, though I am currently riding my first Honda. I also follow BSB, WSBK and MotoGP, and watch the odd AMA round whenever I catch it on TV. I am also a member of MAG Ireland, helping to protect motorcyclists rights.

PhD candidate in Dublin City University's School of Law and Government. My primary focus is on political violence, then broadening out to international relations, security and conflict. On the politics side I try to keep tabs of U.S. politics as much as time allows, though with the demise of NPRs "Its All Politics" thats gotten much harder.

I have been a Linux user since 2007, since then I try to take as active role that I can within the Ubuntu community and help in development and testing each release cycle. In December 2010 I was also lucky enough to be provided a Cr-48 as part of the Google test pilot programme for their Chrome OS. Recently transitioned to Fedora (August 2013) to see how the other side lives!

Needless to say I am a fan of technology in general, and an android smartphone, Nexus 7 and/or Kindle are always close to hand. Have been a Sci-Fi fan all of my life too, but that should come of no surprise.

I enjoy travelling, especially by motorcycle and try to share as much of my journeys that I can. You can find various albums in my Flickr account. Some of my photos have been included in tour guides (Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island Immigration Museum and Capitol Hill). Some more photos are due to be published in a book about Scottish lighthouses (link when published) and other photos have been included at the 9/11 Preview Site for the 9/11 Memorial Museum.
