Formerly a Poor farm (place for the poor), this setup is very unique. Lots of eating+ drinking areas. A beautiful hotel and grounds, winery, gardens even a golf course. There is a nice NW themed restaurant and a lot of places to eat bar foods too. There are often lubr shows so you may need to park way way out in a field but at least the parking is free. Service was friendly. Wine was ok. I don't drink much beer but people liked it. Entertainment was entertaining. What more to say.

Rustic with many cabins. The lodge offers boat rentals (no motorized boats on clear lake).

Ginger is and eclectic little corner store, very close to Caltech and makes a great alternative to the institutional foods and coffees provided there. The sandwiched are hearty, tasty and well made. The iced coffee and teas are delicious. Ginger is really just fun to visit, with interesting toys and gifts beside organic soda and kombucha.

We stumbled upon Vincent Lugo Park when looking for a place to eat our bahn mi. The park is very nicely laid out with little bridges, native flowers and a great picnic area. I would love to recommend this place but won't because I want to keep it myself, jk :)

Clifton's is worth visiting for the space. I have never had a more enjoyable experience wandering around a restaurant/bar, cannot recommend this to enough people. Except the food. And the drinks. Everything I have had here (except the pizza) is awful. Every drink was either too sweet or weak. In the bar we had a great server but he was alone and overworked (doing the entire floor) so serve was incredibly slow. I really wish that a foodie, mixologist or someone who loved these would come in and turn this around. I fear without this, Clifton's will bleed $ and a great space will close forever.

One of the nicer buildings on the Caltech campus. Nice sickish design with fragrant flowers in spring. Has a very nice gene pool in back.

Located right on the Hollywood strip, this sundae shop is also a Disney store. While I generally do not like Hollywood and only get dragged to the strip when visited by friends or family from out of town, I have to say that after finding this I will actually have something to look forward to during these trips. Only four stars because of the locale. Any sundae is a good sundae, provided it has hot fudge.
