Where am I going?

First of all, with some limitations I generally share everything I share on all platforms where it makes sense. (I have an iOS shortcut I've been using for that—I hope to release an initial test version of that for people to use in late Oct).

Twitter
I've been "nazgul" on Twitter for over a decade. If you follow me, drop me a note so I'll remember to add you to my G+ list. Most of the stuff I share will be here in shortened form. But it also includes retweets that I don't always share elsewhere. I stay up-to-date on conversations on Twitter.

Facebook
I still have a Facebook account (too much family and old friends to abandon it). If we've conversed here I'm happy to friend you there, but please drop me a note first (here, or on some other social media, or via email (I own hinckley.com, you can guess my email)). After some viral post I shared there I got 200+ friend requests and I have no idea who I know and who I don't, even if I weren't lousy at remembering names. So send me some context. This gets less of my content, and I'm slower to respond. I basically don't read anything here, just check my comments.

Instagram
I'm kee.hinckley here. Most of the stuff I share to my "My Photos" collection ends up on Instagram.

Pluspora
I'm nazgul here, or search for my name. I'm liking it so far. Good interactions. A platform that I might contribute too. I'm likely to use this as my home base along with twitter.

MeWe
I've created an account with my name. Not sure if I'll stay.

Dreamwidth
I might move my ancient LJ account over, but probably not. I haven't touched LJ in 10 years or so.

Blog
I'll probably bring back my blog at technosocial.com for actual writing. Or I might explore Medium. I'm leaving this open right now.

Communities
A number of people have suggested that slack is a reasonable place for these and I think I agree. Especially for private ones.

I'll update/repost this as I make more decisions.

Nearly 50 years ago, Congress passed the Equal Rights Amendment, barring sex discrimination. But 38 states had to ratify it before it took effect. Earlier this year, Illinois became number 37 and a bipartisan group of lawmakers is campaigning to make Virginia the final, historic vote.

❝ So basically we have the two best AIs of the world, on Instagram and YouTube, competing to convince people that the earth is flat. Because it yields large amounts of watch time, and watch time yields ads. This is a #raceToTheBottom

Flat Earth is not a "small bug". It reveals that there is a structural problem in Google's and Facebook's AIs: they exploit weaknesses of the most vulnerable people, to make them believe the darnedest things

Another real-life harm of this conspiracy promoted by AI: in Nigeria, Boko Haram used the flat earth theory to motivate the killings of more than 600 geography teachers 😰 ❞

❝ the incidence of people being hospitalized because of complications from diabetes is up 23 percent over the past decade. ❞

The price of insulin is up 500% in the past decade. But only in the US. And all because of middlemen.

Why 536 was ‘the worst year to be alive’

❝ a cataclysmic volcanic eruption in Iceland spewed ash across the Northern Hemisphere early in 536. Two other massive eruptions followed, in 540 and 547. The repeated blows, followed by plague, plunged Europe into economic stagnation that lasted until 640, when another signal in the ice—a spike in airborne lead—marks a resurgence of silver mining, as the team reports in Antiquity this week. ❞
