Peeps, if you ever happen to find yourselves in Helsinki and want to visit an interesting, large and lively establishment wherein to procure yourself some second-hand books mainly in languages other than Finnish, head over to Arkadia International Bookshop.

They've got a huge selection, reasonable prices, lots of interesting nooks and crannies, a piano, a chapel, a warehouse with dozens of boxes of books you're welcome to rifle through, and a boa!

... Seriously speaking, though, I like what they've done with the system after the move a few years ago; most of the stock is on the shelves but there's also stuff in boxes, easily available for perusal, and organised by genre/category/language. There's a pool table available for a small hourly fee, and also tea and cookies and whatever happens to be there the day you walk in. They hold numerous events at the shop, all of which are listened on the page, and the owner is quite possibly the friendliest antiquarian in Helsinki.

And by the way? I wasn't joking about the boa.

The last time someone took me to a bookstore, we were there for... gods, 4 hours or more? I'm pretty sure the only reason we left was to get something to eat. XD

You go, girl! I'm so glad that Nigella has found the strength to do this, she seems like a really sweet person who deserves more.

Dear Google+,
Can you do something about, or does someone know a solution, the customisability of the G+ homepage for widescreens? I'd love to use G+ more but the huge white space between the feed and the chatlist puts me off. I'd like to put that space into good use to make the site overall more efficient and suited to my purposes.

Thanks beforehand,
me

Found via +Sarah Rios; I think the metaphor this lad uses is very apt (though I'd add being the recipient of unwanted sexual advances to his definition of abuse). Worth the four minutes of your life it'll take to watch this. #Consent #SexualAbuse

Introduction
Katri (Kay) dapples in geekery, activism, studying in a university, and photography.

She is predominantly a writer, an information hoarder, a coffee addict, a feminist and childfree, but also a culinary genius (read: mixes together random stuff and most of the time it turns out tasty), a fairly skilled experimental writer (she thinks playing around with typography is fun), a championship cuddler, a Cat Bed of Extraordinary Quality™ (no customer reviews available unless you're a medium; possibly a small will do), a black-belt google-fu practitioner, an endless source of anecdotes, a prolific rambler, and a stationary one-woman stand-up comedy tour.

She doesn't normally use the Oxford comma but thought that these lists were getting too long without it.
