If you are a blogger or interested in starting, join us tonight for a Google Hangout :-)
You know all about social media.

You do Facebook, Twitter, Google Plus, Instagram, Pinterest...etc, etc, ETC.

Blogging itself is part of social media, but in the midst of five zillion to-do list items and keeping up with the changing face of social media and the constant drive to do more, sometimes you might feel like you're blogging on an island.

My guests this week are +Katie WellnessMama +Angela England and +Trina Holden, and we're going to dig into the idea of blogger networking, mastermind groups, and the importance of building community not only with your audience, but with other bloggers.

While this topic may not sound as practical or tempting as “monetizing your blog” or “learning to use Google Plus,” if you want to avoid burnout, love your job, and take advantage of all that social media truly has to offer – including earning more money! - you owe it to yourself to consider your behind-the-scenes blogger networking and learn from those who have figured it out well.

Bring your questions and bring your blogging colleagues and friends, and let's get busy being social about social media!

Don't worry about what you're wearing - on an HOA, only the hosts are "on air" and the rest of you just get to watch and can ask questions in text through the chat.

Monday, April 21st
9:00-10:00 pm ET (New York Time)
6:00-7:00 pm PT (Cali time)
Check your time zone here-->

If you can't make it "live" you might still want to click "Maybe" below. That will ensure that you get reminders including the link to the event page, where immediately following the hangout, the full video will be available to view. You can watch whenever you want!

This is a regular bi-monthly HOA hosted by Kitchen Stewardship - once a month we have hangouts for bloggers for professional development and once a month the topic will be about real food/natural living for anyone to attend. Watch for the next KS Connect Plus HOA on 4/28 for real foodies (topic TBA).

One of the few supplements I take daily: Astaxanthin

"Astaxanthin is carotenoid and one of the most potent antioxidants available. It has been widely studied and is beneficial in may different ways. The Linus Pauling Institute explains that:

“Carotenoids are a class of more than 600 naturally occurring pigments synthesized by plants, algae, and photosynthetic bacteria. These richly colored molecules are the sources of the yellow, orange, and red colors of many plants”

Astaxanthin is one of the most powerful and most studied carotenoids and it is produced when a certain species of algae dries up. It produces Astaxanthin to protect itself form the effects of losing its food/nutrient supply and to stay alive. Natural sources of Astaxanthin include this algae and animals that consume it including krill and salmon. It is found in very high amounts in the muscles of salmon (it is the carotenoid that gives salmon its bright red color) and is said to be responsible for the endurance they need to swim upstream.

Unlike many antioxidants, Astaxanthin does not turn pro-oxidant (harmful to the body) at any point in the digestive process."

Some ways that we use Marshmallow Root:

~As a soothing tea during colds, flu or sore throats.
~For digestive problems like heartburn, stomach illness or occasional digestive troubles. I usually mix with peppermint leaf or ginger to make a soothing tea.
~On skin- Marshmallow root makes a great addition to lotions, salves and tinctures for the skin. Also good for eczema and soothing sunburn.
~In hair- I use Marshmallow Root in my homemade detangling hair spray (great for kids).
~Urinary problems- I’ve used Marshmallow Root tea at the first sign of urinary or bladder infection to help speed healing.
~Homemade Marshmallows- We use Marshmallow Root in our homemade marshmallow recipe. It is option but adds extra flavor and a health boost.

Turmeric is a super-spice that has a high antioxidant value and boosts the immune system. It is a powerful anti-inflamatory and is popular among those with arthritis and joint problems for this reason. Turmeric is antiseptic and kills yeast and parasites when used internally.

It is a member of the ginger family and it is what gives many Indian Foods their yellow color. It is used in curries and in mustard. There is some evidence that it supports brain health and can help avoid Alzheimer’s Disease.

One of my favorite Spring/Summer recipes: Greek Meatballs.

Inspired by one of my first dates with my husband (In Europe)... these combine flavors of fennel, mint, citrus and garlic with a homemade Tzatziki sauce... try them! What did you eat on your first date with your spouse?

I write about health and nutrition to provide simple answers for healthier families:
I’m a wife, mom of 5, amateur chef, real food crusader, kettlebell junkie, scuba diver and coffee addict. I’m also a chronic abuser of ellipses… (and asides) and dorkily enjoy reading medical journals in my free time. I love creating new recipes, DIY projects,  and gardening. I do not love dishes, laundry, or paying bills. Enough about me… I want to know about you! Come say hi on FacebookTwitterPinterestGoogle+ and Instagram! (all places I spend way to much time!)
