The beginnings of my very first quilt. I've made my pattern, measured things out, and purchased the fabric (a mix of star wars and doctor who). Exciting to see how it all goes

When I first moved to Denver there was a lot of talk about the weather. Oh it doesn't get that cold. Oh wait 10 min and it will all change. Etc. I kept trying to explain how really different it is. People here love the bi-polar weather because it's not cold for very long. Yeah, well that day when it's freezing and you make a pot of chili, when it's hot the next day, what do you do with the leftovers?

I feel like this project really demonstrates the differences. The Denver side is constantly changing, and goes through a much broader range. The Seattle side is very constant with few swings in temperatures. Amazing. Though I don't have the patience to do this often, I would love to see more comparisons like this!

I did not want to go to the gym today.
My co-workers were fighting, I needed to pick sides.
I did not want to go to the gym today.
Didn't sleep well last night, not feeling too great.
I did not want to go to the gym today.
There's a lot of work to do, the weather's getting bad.
I did not want to go to the gym today.
My muscles are sore, there's always tomorrow.
I did not want to go to the gym today.

But I went anyway.

I hit the weights.
Just one more set.
I waited for equipment.
Just one more set.
I focused on form.
Just one more set.
I cleared my mind.
Just one more set.
I killed my workout.
Just one more set.
I added more weight.
Just one more set.
I beat my records.
Just one more set.

I now feel great. I feel strong. I feel happy. I see improvements. I can't wait to go back again tomorrow.

Day 1 of drawing class. Better than I've ever done....more to come with much improvement. I feel like I need to just practice. A lot.

Well, my first ever quilt project is drawing towards the end... at least the end of small sewing lines... I got very close to getting things 100% right (there are a few places where my sewing/pinning wasn't great, but that's okay) no what I completely forgot about was making sure the pinwheels went the same direction. 2 of them don't. I was already worried that the patterned fabric would be a bit much... but I think I will be more busy due to the fact that the white "background" won't line up in many places. I still love it and don't plan on ripping it all out.

The next quilt (already in the planning stages) should actually be much easier. More square, less triangles...bigger pieces too. Just happened to work out that way!

Starting to use the fabric I bought for the first quilt... cutting up triangles (still have 2 more colors to cut and a ton more white). Did a little pinning and sewing so I could take a break from cutting. Messed up with the second batch of sewing so I ripped it out. Hopefully this weekend will bring a better outcome!

The world DIY quilt... thanks to Haptic Lab. Now I get to start and see how fast I can progress. I plan to make this a great keepsake with places I have visited, places I have lived. I have done a lot of traveling but I feel I will need to do more once this gets done

Normally I would say that most of my crafting revolves around knitting, but when you take on a cake like this, I feel that it deserves it's own "craft" tag

Starting to workout again (Thanks to Getting Fit for the New Year) and starting to go climbing regularly. Holiday break took me away from both gyms. I'm super excited to get back into it, and even though my body aches, it's a wonderful wonderful ache!

These guys were great. Was able to get right in because my cat might have had a serious issue. There was a lot of understanding that "I know my cat" and not just telling me that "sometimes cats act strange". They called to check up on her making sure the meds were working. I was able to call back and ask questions. They also have 2 entrances, one for cats and one for dogs, which is great since my cat is already traumatized from the car ride, let alone running into a big scary dog while waiting to see the vet. I hope I never have to go back, but I'm glad I found these guys. Keep up the great work!
