Phase 2, the top coat. Went with the 1920's direction because it would be a much easier sewing project to start out with, especially without a proper dress stand yet.

I've decided to do a more complicated cosplay this year: Dalek dress. Either in a 1920's gangster theme or in a copper steampunk style, or maybe both!

The first step in this process, and the most daunting, is the sewing of the actual skirt, which needs to start with a hoop skirt base layer. Turned out not be as hard as I was envisioning. Hopefully now I can pick up some fabric and continue down the path of adding to this project until it's final awesomeness!

Well, my first ever quilt project is drawing towards the end... at least the end of small sewing lines... I got very close to getting things 100% right (there are a few places where my sewing/pinning wasn't great, but that's okay) no what I completely forgot about was making sure the pinwheels went the same direction. 2 of them don't. I was already worried that the patterned fabric would be a bit much... but I think I will be more busy due to the fact that the white "background" won't line up in many places. I still love it and don't plan on ripping it all out.

The next quilt (already in the planning stages) should actually be much easier. More square, less triangles...bigger pieces too. Just happened to work out that way!

Starting to use the fabric I bought for the first quilt... cutting up triangles (still have 2 more colors to cut and a ton more white). Did a little pinning and sewing so I could take a break from cutting. Messed up with the second batch of sewing so I ripped it out. Hopefully this weekend will bring a better outcome!

The beginnings of my very first quilt. I've made my pattern, measured things out, and purchased the fabric (a mix of star wars and doctor who). Exciting to see how it all goes

The world DIY quilt... thanks to Haptic Lab. Now I get to start and see how fast I can progress. I plan to make this a great keepsake with places I have visited, places I have lived. I have done a lot of traveling but I feel I will need to do more once this gets done

When I first moved to Denver there was a lot of talk about the weather. Oh it doesn't get that cold. Oh wait 10 min and it will all change. Etc. I kept trying to explain how really different it is. People here love the bi-polar weather because it's not cold for very long. Yeah, well that day when it's freezing and you make a pot of chili, when it's hot the next day, what do you do with the leftovers?

I feel like this project really demonstrates the differences. The Denver side is constantly changing, and goes through a much broader range. The Seattle side is very constant with few swings in temperatures. Amazing. Though I don't have the patience to do this often, I would love to see more comparisons like this!

Normally I would say that most of my crafting revolves around knitting, but when you take on a cake like this, I feel that it deserves it's own "craft" tag
