I wish I were a better coder. My daughters have taken a real interest in it lately, and I'm encouraging it as much as I can. They are already almost better than me. I try to tell them that it needs to do more than just work, it needs to be simple and readable. Every day this week at least one of them is on the computer for at least two hours in the evening on Khan Academy going through their Javascript and HTML tutorials. I haven't seen anything hold their interest and get them excited like this since Minecraft.

Hasn't the average person gotten 23% larger than the average model rather than average model getting smaller? Obesity is a real problem.

I am still in the Crossfit game. It's been two years now. I remember the first day I contacted the gym. I was nervous because I knew I needed the training but worried I wasn't strong enough for Crossfit. I told them my scores from my best ever PT test, and that I was hoping to get somewhere close to that level again. I did 52 push-ups in 2 minutes, 84 sit ups in two minutes, and my two mile run in 14:30. That was what I considered my peak. I thought that point was long behind me. When the coaches responded like, "oh that's all? Sure we can train you back to that." I didn't believe them. I didn't think they realized I was older, I had kids, I was in a different point in life, all the things I believed about myself that were really just self imposed limits. Well, my coaches were right. They got me back to that point and then some. I wasn't in my peak then. I haven't reached my peak yet. I'm still climbing and growing. The best is yet to come out of me. I've accomplished physical exercises I've never had thought were possible for me. I can do multiple pull-ups, with weights. I can do push-ups, in a handstand. I can jump rope with double unders like a boxer. I can squat more than I weigh. I learned about diet and nutrition, and for the first time in my life I have abs. I am strong, and it shows. I still haven't won at a competition, but I always have fun, though winning would be nice for once. I still surprise myself. This is a fun journey.

Introduction

I'm a Calibration Technician in a small business in Boston focusing on energy conservation, air quality safety and energy efficiency. I'm not easily offended. I speak my mind, and love to laugh. I don't sugarcoat or beat around the bush, though I have a lot of patience and think I'm pretty laid back. I'm a mom to two brilliant and athletic daughters, and have a Firefighter husband.

I try to post public fairly often, but have more posts that are tailored to people based off of how they have interacted with me in the past. I do more commenting on other peoples posts, but I do create and share content of my own occasionally. My posts will run from politics, current events, things about my kids, things about the Army, things about veterans services, my dogs, things I found funny, things that made me think, things about video games, things about tech, things about the prison system, things about fitness and diet, things about Crossfit and whatever else happened to be on my mind that day.

I guess burn me once shame on you, burn me twice shame on me. I bought a full movie lounger sactional and pillowsac. I ordered deep u-drinks, started paying for them, didn't see them for six months. The lounger looked too much like a bed in my living room so I re-arranged it to make a chaise and sofa, but I needed to buy another $300 worth of stuff to make it work. I was reluctant to order a deep side and cover based on the last experience, but the salespeople assured me it was an isolated incident and it wouldn't happen again. I've been paying for the deep side and cover for almost six months, but guess what, I haven't seen it, and no one can give me any tracking info. Big surprise. This is how they do business. Then the stuff that I did get was defective when I finally got it. I'm on my third squattoman cover, because they keep ripping in the first month. What the heck? In their defence, this third cover does look a bit more durable than the last two and has lasted a few weeks so far. The rest of the cushions on the sactional are starting to flatten and warp after 18 months, and they don't fluff easily. The pillowsac is holding up well though. My husband really likes it, but I don't see what's so great about it for the price, and the fact that it hasn't been a complete set in a year, and doesn't have the durability it appeared to is not a good value in my opinion.

The waitstaff was excellent. The sushi was a bit warmer than I usually like it. The rolls weren't clear on the menu so I think I got the sampler. Everything was order a'la carte. I heard some people talking about the smoked salmon sashimi so I got a piece. So good! Absolutely amazing! If they have it, and you come, (and you like that sort of thing,) give it a try.

I went for one of their special events, the second Paleo Dinner. It was a fantastic five course meal done following the caveman diet. Each part I wasn't sure how they could do better than the last, but they did. The chef came out and explained how he made each dish as it was served with the course. It was an experience more than just going out to eat! The dessert was mind-blowing. It was better than most of the junk my sweet-tooth wants. The waitstaff always made sure we had what we needed, they were very accommodating. The decor felt very historic. I could imagine decades of people making memories in the same spaces I was in. Great place!

I saw they had great reviews before so I started going to them. I went for a massage with my husband and daughters and it was all right, but nothing great. The waiting area was a bit cramped. I did notice they had a lot of hours. I needed a cut and color on short notice on a Saturday afternoon. Most places are closed, so I made an appointment. The cut, color and blow dry done was ok. I had to wait for a while, but that's all right. It wasn't stunningly exceptional, but I wear my hair tied up in a bun most days for work anyways, so I'm not too picky. I asked when to come back for maintenance, she recommended 2 months. I made an appointment with the same stylist since I was happy enough. Sometime between the last appointment and this one, they called to say that stylist wasn't available and asked if I could come in at a different time. I couldn't so I asked for a different day. They said they could give me a different stylist on that day at that time, so I was good. My roots were growing out quite a bit, and I was really looking forward to getting them done. Today was the appointment that I was waiting months for, and my roots had grown out almost two inches. When I got there they were packed doing a bridal party. It seemed more like a Chuck E Cheese then a Spa with how noisy and hectic it was. I stood at the desk for almost 10 minutes before someone stopped long enough to talk to me. They informed me that they no longer had time to do both a cut and a color, and demanded I pick one or the other, and it was either a 20 minute or a 50 minute wait, with no where to sit. Really? I made this appointment months in advance, and confirmed the appointment instead of a reschedule, and now you don't have time? Then she tried to blame it on me for being 6 minutes late to checking in. I was standing there before 3:30. If they had gotten to me I wouldn't be late. I thought I reserved about an hour of time. I hope they weren't planning on doing a six minute hair cut or color application. I probably cut into the time of getting me a glass of water. This place is pricer. I was planning on spending around $150 -$200 dollars. For that kind of money, I don't need a condescending attitude about not being 15 minutes early is late from a woman with way too big of an ego for the service she's providing. If I want to deal with that, I can get paid for it, not the other way around. The whole point that I don't mind paying that kind of money is so that I can forget about life for a while and be treated well. The whole spa experience was clearly not going to happen. I know can get better service at supercuts for a fraction of the price. I turned around and walked out. It looks like they got greedy and wanted to do both the bridal party and the individual appointments. If you can't do what you say you can do when you say you are going to do it when I'm paying you to do it, and then try to make me feel bad, I'm not giving you my hard earned money. Now I'm worried because it seems that if you don't cancel they charge you anyways. I hope they have the credit card that's past expiration on file. I hope they don't try, because I don't want to have to argue with people about how they told me they couldn't do what I came to have done. They effectively canceled. Not me. If you really want to try this place anyways, don't give them your credit card info! For a place you pay for relaxation, they sure cause a lot of stress.

My kids went here and they set the standard when it comes to gymnastics centers. The instructors were cheerful and encouraging, but at the same time they instilled discipline. We had to move otherwise they would still be going here. They learned more in their first four months here than they did on over a year at another studio. I felt the trainers really got to know each child's personality, strengths, and weaknesses. It seemed like they really cared about the kids as people and wanted them to be as successful as athletes. They were really attentive to have each child live up to their full potential. My kids were going to meets as level 4's within a year, and could laugh off their mistakes. Other gyms kids break down in tears over imperfections that are invisible to all but those with a trained eye because of the pressure. This gym made them both train hard but made it fun. They are a bit pricey, but you definitely get what you pay for. On team, your kids will be part of the iron rail family.
