A quick note to say I love the new look of your site, MaAnna! And I also see a change in your writing style with great calls to action.

Julianne, I made the switch to Stripe from PayPal about a year ago and have no regrets. The transaction fee is comparable, although you need to purchase an SSL certificate as MaAnna mentioned. My client's also seem to prefer Stripe. In the first few months of transition I offered PayPal and Stripe as payment alternatives on my invoices. 99.9% of client payments are made via Stripe. Payments are credited to your designated bank account within 48 hours.
Tips include: - tell me what you want in Tips Tuesday - Yoast SEO 2.3 MaAnna Minute video tour - why to learn the business end of any endeavor - sharing your visibility strategy - latest WordPress security release - what designers need to know about WordPress GPL license - drip content comes to WishList Member - why I’m testing Stripe as a PayPal replacement - the possible return of Google Agent Rank authorship - why I’m switching from Google Ana...

Thanks so much +Kathy Drewien for your kind words on the new site look and noticing my writing. And glad to hear the positive feedback on Stripe.

I started writing for Linux Journal as a contributing editor in 1996 (here's one piece), and went full-time 1998, not long before I began co-writing The Cluetrain Manifesto with Chris Locke, David Weinberger and Rick Levine. The Cluetrain website went up in March 1999, and we finished writing the book at the end of August 1999.

"Thinking outside the pipes" via +Doc Searls http://feedly.com/e/7STp1GOc

... if we think the Net is just another ‘medium,’ we’re missing its real value as a simple and cost-free way to connect everybody and everything. This is what we meant in The Cluetrain Manifesto when we said ‘markets are conversations.’ Conversations are also not media. They are the main way humans connect with each other and share knowledge. The Internet extends that ability to a degree without precedent in human history. There is no telling how profound a change—hopefully for the better—this will brings to our species and the world we live in.

I choose kindness. So does +Mika Epstein and +Andrea Rennick. Do you?

I've personally found this to work very well for me. "You might consider treating people with kindness merely because you can. Regardless of what they choose to do in response, this is what you choose to do. Because you can."

My favorite quote from today's Tip Tuesday: "...if you survive, you might get interested in learning about the things that actually make you money on a site. And folks who are at that point are my clients. They’re past that freebie mindset stuff and ready for the meat and potatoes of successful site ownership."
Tips include: Site Success Q&A Blab, Google Drive vs. Dropbox, Social Warfare plugin performance test, new Blab Tips section, stop breaking video embed iframe code, Twitter button redesign and counts, 7 things that make viewers distrust a website

I am once again reading Positioning for Professionals: How Professional Knowledge Firms Can Differentiate Their Way to Success and love how this post echoes a discussion I had earlier today.
Peruse virtually any contract between an advertising agency and its clients and you’re likely to find the language “work for hire.”  Essentially this means that any work the agency produces is owned by its clients. Not only are there no contractual provisions for agencies to retain ownership of some of the intellectual property they create, there’s not even room for discussion. Even the name many clients use for these contracts — the “Master Serv...

Introduction
I love teaching people how to use WordPress! My specialty is helping you avoid the pain and expense of not knowing what you don’t know. In fact, I guarantee I can help you stop wasting hours and pulling your hair out in frustration.

You will enjoy working with me because I help you understand the why as well as the how when it comes to WordPress themes, eCommerce, SEO, membership sites, and learning management systems.

I communicate in plain English and don’t try to impress you with technical geeky terms or coding language.
