Over the last few months I've found two nice sized bell jars.  I've seen a lot of beautiful centerpieces using them on Pinterest so I decided  to put three together for a spring grouping on my dini...

If George Frideric Handel ranks as the king of the oratorio, then certainly Franz Joseph Haydn is its prince.

Lakeview Smiles
916 W Belmont Ave #201, Chicago, IL 60657
I just had my first appointment with Lakeview Smiles and I was so glad I'd chosen them. In most dentist's offices everyone is sickly sweet because they're trying so hard to compete with the other 200 dentists around the corner. Instead I felt like everyone at Lakeview Smiles was genuinely friendly. As a first-time patient they were great about explaining what x-rays they were taking and walking me through what they saw.

I saw Marilyn for my cleaning, Dr. Hoffman, Maria for my Invisalign consultation, and had a great wrap-up experience with Angela. They have an assistant working there who's training to be a hygienist and I can't remember her name but she was super sweet and talked to me while waiting for the doctor.
Quality Excellent

I ordered this for my old apartment in busy area in Chicago. I think it's going to make me sleep much easier at night.

An adorable door sign my mom made for us.
Katie mentioned that when she took her Christmas wreath down their apartment door looked pretty dull.  I've had a few ideas for a craft project for her but when I ran across the pieces of a lightwe...

Please help my DePaul prof out!

#IfIHadGlass I would revolutionize the Classroom Learning Experience for my students at DePaul University.

ELearning is great, but we all know that nothing can replace an intellectual discussion with peers in a classroom.

With Glass, I could quickly search and distribute supplementary information while keeping my focus on maintaining an engaging discussion.

This is my new favorite place. The staff is friendly and very helpful. Even after a Cubs game the crowd is still fun and not too out of control. I haven't had a real meal there yet but the quesadillas are fantastic.

I liked how the karaoke was up in the front window and while it was going on all night it wasn't a focal point. It was easier to get up there when only the people right by the stage were watching.

My family played mini golf at Towering Pines on a Thursday afternoon and had a great time. It wasn't overcrowded, the course was well maintained, and it had some sneaky tricks on a couple of the holes that made it interesting to play. This course has floating golf balls so some of the holes are open on the side to the ponds and they have nets for the unskilled to use to fish their balls out. At the 8th hole you actually want to hit your ball into the creek, it will float to a grill and might get you a hole in one! There's a $1 off coupon in The Visitor (they have a rack of them outside the office). We've played here and at the mini golf across from the Lumberjack Village and while that one was good, Towering Pines is better.

My husband and I moved into the neighborhood about a year ago and stop by Fiesta Mexicana when we feel like having sit-down Mexican food. The inside isn't very fancy but the margaritas make up for it! In the summer they have a decent patio. The servers are always very friendly and willing to bring whatever you need. We've found that some of the food is excellent and some of it is a little sub-par. We've enjoyed the ground beef tacos, tacos salad, chicken enchiladas, and the rice and beans are done well. We didn't love the shredded beef in the tamales. This is a great neighborhood place to stop in and enjoy a margarita!

I went to BlackFinn on a Monday after work and it was great! I loved that it was big and open and the women's bathroom was fancy (priorities). My friend and I had an the soft pretzel appetizer (delicious), drinks (the sangria was excellent, the martini was pretty strong), and then dessert. The BlackFinn Hot Chocolate might be the most wonderful thing I've ever consumed in my life. It's not a drink, it's a brownie/type chocolate thing filled with peanut butter and covered in ice cream. EAT IT. We were sitting at the bar and it took a really long time for our dessert to come out, about 15 minutes, so the bartender and manager both apologized and comped it for us.

My husband and I live in the neighborhood and stop by Crew for dinner sometimes because I'm a picky eater and this is one of the few places in the neighborhood I like. The food is great, and there is a large selection of healthy items (whole wheat wraps, etc.). I've been in some gay bars where they don't like straight couples coming in, even though we're just there for dinner and that is NOT the experience at Crew. We've always felt welcomed and enjoyed ourselves.

My husband shipped 17 boxes from Colorado to Chicago last month. Only 11 of the 17 boxes showed up and we were told "too bad, the rest are lost". After calling around I finally found a local office in Chicago that had the 6 boxes tucked in the back of a shipping container. Eventually they were sent to us (after calling at least 2 more times to schedule the drop off). Two of the boxes were full of pottery my husband had made in college and they were FLATTENED. Everything inside was crushed practically to powder and I was told over the phone that even if I file a claim, because they were household goods I won't get any money. Do NOT use this company for shipping anything that you want to see again!

I wish I could give them ZERO stars! They lost our stuff and no one at this company gives a damn! My husband had 17 boxes that were supposed to be shipped here from Colorado. The day they arrived, there were only 11 and the truck driver said "well, that's all they gave me" and drove off. We keep calling and they tell us to file a claim, but what about our stuff! Money can't replace his deceased mother's posessions. Thanks for nothing YRC Freight.

My husband and I moved into the neighborhood this summer and we LOVE running over to Carmela's on weekends for tacos at lunchtime. The tacos are delicious, the prices are good, and the place is never overcrowded. There's not a ton of seating space so I wouldn't recommend going there with a large crowd.
