Remember that wobble I had? Well I blogged about it. For anyone who has ever had doubts about what they're doing work wise, this might be a good read.
** The wobble that almost turned into, shudder, a real job **
Last night I had a wobble.
It was so bad I actually took out my dusty old CV and started searching for jobs.
It started with a casual snarky remark in a community. And ended with me questioning whether this whole ‘running my own business’ thing was genuinely for me.
I came this close to packing it all in.
Have you ever questioned whether the business-owning life is really for you? Is it time to dust off that CV and apply for a *shudder* real job?

“Your brand is what other people say about you when you're not in the room.”

I love this quote and the truth of it really hit home yesterday.
Brook, who runs one of my fave online stores, messaged my business page to share this screen shot with me.

A bunch of people chatting about ME in a business group on FB.

How awesome is this?

My efforts  to get the
good word out there about safe, doable, DIY SEO - are starting to work.

What a grubby little hotel. I booked this hotel via Wot if, the pictures looked great. But sadly the reality was a little more depressing. Everything about this hotel feels tired, worn down and shabby. The hallways are dark, dank and grubby, with scuffed walls and threadbare carpet. My room was small and had an odour reminiscent of a public toilet. Mean little single beds were topped with deflated pillows and slightly sticky sheets and the bathroom (no bath) was pokey and looked like it had long forgotten the feel of bleach. The TV was a blur of static, the walls dull, the window blinds full of holes. In a moment of on indecision about whether I should stay or go, I reached for the obligatory Pringles in my desperate need for comfort - and of course, these were already open and half consumed. I went back to reception and asked for a refund, which was refused as I'd booked through Wot if. I was invited to look at a rennovated room, but really the whole place gave me the heebeejeebees so I gladly left and waved my money goodbye. Essentially I paid NOT to stay there. Enough said. >> It gets 2 stars because the man at reception was friendly and told me all about his recurring tonsillitis.

As a regular visitor the Pullman I was hopeful that when I had to postpone a booking due to ill health they would be understanding. Sadly not. Totally inflexible and only willing to change if I was able to send a signed medical certificate. Fairly hard when bedridden on a Friday afternoon and the booking is for the following Monday. Allowing me to move my booking back a week would have been such a small and simple act of generous customer service. Good on you Pullman customer service team for strictly enforcing the rules and keeping my $800. A real win. Now they've lost me as customer and I'll go out of my way to tell others not to stay there. Update : after several emails they were willing to swap two nights for one with with room credit. But boy it was hard work.

I did a lot of research before choosing to go with Cabin Kits Galore. I liked that they were 100% upfront with pricing and clear about what was and wasn’t included. I liked that they responded within an hour of my request. And I liked their no-nonsense approach to invoicing and locking in an installation date. On the build day the guys had the cabin up and in tiptop condition in just under seven hours. They were friendly, polite, efficient and cleaned up after themselves. The cabin is awesome. It’s solid, finished to a high standard and beautiful to look at. I couldn’t be more happy and can’t stop recommending them to everyone I know (as well as complete strangers).

Chris from Umina Beach Electricians. Is a super star and our go to Electrician. Prompt, friendly, efficient and not a rip off merchant. He's fixed our electrics on more than one occasion, fitted a burglar alarm and also came out to fix an emergency within 10 minutes and didn't charge the earth. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
