I may not make it to tomorrow's meeting because I'm traveling, but I wanted to share a couple of reflections on this week's reading, so thought I'd post them here.

I found the definitions of types of articles a bit narrow. IMHO, social science research is not always about human behaviour. It can also be about - for example - human experience. Likewise, qualitative research in the social sciences isn't necessarily ethnographic and isn't necessarily conducted via either interviews or observation (although these are really common methods for data collection in qual social science research). Nor does quantitative social science research necessarily involve a scientific experiment. And

I also think you can approach new evidence in a new way and still get published, but the chapter suggests (by omission) that this mightn't be possible. For example, you could use new evidence to establish a new theory.

I guess I wanted to share these thoughts because I feel the definitions in this week's reading are a bit narrow, and perhaps restrictive.
