Facebook's user experience is becoming ever worse. Take for example the UI, arrogant terms of service, and now this travesty.

Yet Zuckerberg and co. are  forced down this path because of their dependence on direct advertising. In contrast, Google has no need to pepper G+ with annoying ads nor to extort users just for the "privilege" of communicating with their network. Unless Facebook finds another business model, it's going to find itself painted into a corner.
