Craig,  As much as I disagree with your opinion on the author's blog post, I absolutely second your blog post. And I see that the author places a model as a conversation starter, to have with the individual; read the line - "I’ve found talking about the four quadrants and even mutually agreeing with your team members where they see themselves and where their peers or you see them helps immensely..."

Again, I see your blog post complementing this one with more details to bear in mind when dealing with the situation. Am I missing something??

Blocks not Parameters for logging dedub information in Ruby
Okay, it really matters if you've got to log your debug information that is more than a plain dumb string without any concatenation. Let's take our typical habit of writing a debug like below: logger . debug ( "This is a " + potentially + " expensive operat...

+Chandra Mohan You're absolutely good in not choosing a project/gig based on your taste. The context of being a this blog post goes with as to how a bad developer thinks/asks in doing what he does. As a developer in a project, you can't play with the (production) code to your whims and fancies. Remember it is the business that pays you for your time and effort hoping you'll deliver business value end of the day. The (bad) developers that I come across more often tend to think their personal gains at the cost of business/team. This ain't any good for the team/business and ultimately to the bad developer himself.

How to check whether a string contains a substring in Ruby?
Typically, one would expect (at least I end-up trying this first, almost everytime) a method by name contains? to be available for use. Unfortunately, it isn't present. You could use include? for all case-sensitive cases, like the examples shown below: sent...
