When I got scuba certified 6 years ago, swimming with whale sharks was at the top of my list of things to do before die. Last week on the bay islands of Honduras we got extremely lucky and got to snorkel with a whale shark for close to 20 minutes as he was feeding on plankton at the surface not too far from shore.
It was 30 minutes of chaos jumping in and out of the boat, following the scrambling schools of tuna and sardines, trying to figure out where exactly the shark was. But once we found it, it was an unforgettable experience.
It has not addressed the fact that the Neptune Terminals expansion will result in increased train traffic through North Vancouver, Burnaby, New Westminster, Surrey, Langley and other municipalities further afield, resulting in increased exposure to diesel emissions and unknown amounts of coal dust.
One of the benefits of having a friend who has a video production company; when you run across the Grand Canyon together, he makes a killer video about it!! Incredible footage from a long, painful and rewarding day. Video and photos can never do the scenery true justice, but this comes pretty close!
