'Australian Border Force officials will conduct "compliance field-work" to promote "a secure and cohesive society" in Melbourne.'

WHAT. THE. FUCK. #doubleplusgood

Quick question: as a NZer living in Australia, should I now be carrying my passport around as ID? Or am I OK because I'm white?
Australia's tough new border force is not just keeping unwanted arrivals from reaching our shores – this weekend it will randomly target potential visa fraudsters in the heart of Melbourne.

I have some more hope for Australia now that there's been a backdown. Let's hope the outrage continues.

Oh Instagram is now doing native aspect ratios for uploaded images... Interesting... Pretty big change for the Instagram aesthetic. (Note: they crop all images to square thumbnails on profile pages).

Ahh, lol! I thought that was intentional. I had been thinking "wow, I thought Google had stopped letting G+ cram their hilarious/annoying 4 button strip into everything, guess I was wrong".

Ok, that is pretty impressive.

It's pretty cool for not being done yet.

I think this is pretty important. America is culturally myopic when it comes to it's own failings as a nation.

What Hurricane Katrina, the floodwall and levee collapses, and the aftermath taught me is that America, and its institutions, simply don’t work — and that people like it that way. Perhaps this is a boilerplate observation, so obvious in light of what happened there, and all our other disasters and chronic problems — the Iraq war, political gridlock, gun violence, and a thousand other things. But I believe this is an under-appreciated point.
As the anniversary of Hurricane Katrina approached, I did not plan to write about it. Yes, I thought about doing somethi…

Great spot, awesome front garden bar, great vibe, perfect for a Sunday afternoon. Haven't been out the back to the venue, but the bar is a great spot!

The wait staff were absolutely exceptional. Unfortunately the food took 50 mins and much of it was cold. Dry risotto, fatty chicken, cold potatoes. Unfortunate.
