Why my next phone will not be an iPhone. A short list of very annoying inconveniences I used to rely on in the past:

1. Alarm Clock Volume: Volume of alarm clock is not independent of general volume setting.

2. Alarm Clock Sounds: With one exception the available options are rather lullabies than wake up sound.

3. Alarm Clock Snooze: ID required to snooze

2. iCloud/Calendar Spam: Receiving frequent invitations iCloud and Calendar in Chinese. No option to block, restrict or filter.

3. News feed: I can switch off/on newsfeed but I cannot customize the sources selected.

4. Limited accessibility to storage: Full control on all own files, without the need to login on my PC with my Apple ID should be possible.

5. Less control on Data usage: Being on data/mobile vs wifi is distinguishable by a mini-tiny little icon only.

6. App store browsing/downloading free apps requires Apple ID.

It may be that some features with issues could be fixed with proper settings but I do have the iPhone now for a few weeks and I haven't found these controls. So they may be hidden deeply or not available at all.

There are always pros and cons for a certain product vs competitors. Although, there are certain standard features which should come with a product, especially for an expensive product.

I may return to this post and update if I see some fixes or improvements.

I had the opportunity to walk by the same spot along the River Linth: First at a rainy day, taking a photo with the intention to capture the fog on the river and not destroying it later during post-production processing. Then, a few days later, the…
