How did you handle your first business trip after becoming a parent?
It was barely 7 o’clock in the morning. The crowded throng of early rising passengers giving credence to Foursquare’s notice: the airport was swarming. I sat by a rare functioning outlet in a dark musty corner at my US Airways gate waiting for my boarding group announcement. The friction of whirling fans in my MacbookPro warmed my lap as I edited the gantt chart I created for a new assignment I picked up that week and I was suddenly aware of the ...

I was a wreck a couple weeks ago before jetting of to Dublin, Ireland without my family. Once there, though, I had a wonderful time. But I was so happy to see them all when they joined me a week later!

Are your expectations the same when you travel alone as when you travel with your family?
I’m packing for my first solo trip in a while. No kids. No cats. No Chris. Yeah, I’m excited. It’s probably the whole traveling-without-the-tribe thing. They’re more than just the entourage; they’re my back-up, my support network. And they’re my therapists when I need them. So here’s my problem: I don’t know what to expect. I don’t even know where to set the bar for this trip. Without the kids, I’m much less particular about the travel arrangemen...

Take better fall foliage pictures with these quick tips!
Each year I head out to the mountains to try and capture autumn’s delicate blush but after taking about two million pictures I have only three that I would keep. Why? Because if you’re not careful you end up with lovely fall pictures that all look the same. I worked the Catskill Mountain range with my son Aren and we’ve put together some tips to help you take fresh pictures this fall. Tip 1: Get in the action. Take pictures of people doing things...

Ah, kids can be a handful! What crazy projects have your kids done behind your back?
Some kids dream of doing something incredible with their lives, like becoming an astronaut, news anchor, journalist or animal trainer. Others make it happen. Well in this case they talk their siblings into helping them make it real. That would be Iden, our middle child. Instead of being lost in between our first child Aren and Erysse the baby, he pretty much commands all the attention. And for some reason we’re all happy to come along for the rid...

Might I suggest pacing yourself when attempting such a dangerously caffeinated quest?!
My friends, you don’t want to see the “before” and “after” images of us. So instead, we’re showing you pictures of the kids, enjoying their alternate coffee crawl. Theirs involved muffins, scones and donuts — the pastry crawl, if you will. Ours? Espresso, of course. Eight cups in two hours, straight up! Warming up. Unofficially, we started our tour yesterday by visiting Zeitgeist in Seattle’s Pioneer Square District and, of course, the original S...

Planning a getaway after all this terrible weather. Better prepare the kids before you try to fly!
With all the terrible weather, many people are planning to take a quick getaway weekend for some much needed warmth and sun. But if you're looking to take

Kari Haugeto is a multimedia journalist whose work is shaped by an eclectic resume. Her eye for all things visually compelling captures immersive masterpieces about the areas she visits, transporting audiences to places rarely seen and experiences rarely tried. And she has tried it all. She was a featured soloist at Lincoln Center at age 7. She’s instructed Naval Academy midshipmen on the finer points of scuba diving. She ran for public office in South Florida and lived to tell the tale. She helped create one of the first Internet startups in Berkeley, Calif. She’s been a museum docent, starred in an off-Broadway show, and sang the national anthem at a Baltimore Orioles game. She holds an MBA from the University of Central Florida. She learned the art of multimedia journalism as a graduate student at Full Sail University and the craft of writing from mentors at National Geographic.

I won't share a picture of what I looked like when I first went to the Almond Tree Spa. I can't believe I ever looked so washed out and flat. Elizabeth is a wonder. She took her time looking over my skin and has helped me improve my daily skincare regimen. I look younger and have healthier skin. What more could I ask for?

I've taken my kids to Spark! Enrichment Center summer camps for the past four years. Creative staff keep kids interested - even in things you wouldn't expect your kids to be excited about like culture, reading and writing camps. My daughter had a great time in dance and cheer while her older brothers went the studious route. They have great stories to share at the end of each day.

The specialists at ARC can help you with what ails you now, but they also care about your overall health and well-being. This was the first center I went to that didn't only focus on my pain, but also on me as a whole. I feel as though when I finish treatments not only will my illness be healed but my body will be in balance and stronger than ever.
