Heads up: For all of you who have wondered if the Social Work Podcast was on permanent hiatus... the answer is no. I've just been busy with the kids, the job, the second job, and other things. On Monday I'm going to post a new episode of the Social Work Podcast - an exploration of the similarities and differences between social work in the USA and the UK. I spoke with +David Niven  from the Social World Podcast. Great interview. I'll let you know when I post it. Would appreciate you passing it along to folks. Thank so much.

Folks, I know many of us here are involved in various social media projects and was hoping to get your advice and feedback. I am looking for ways to evaluate/describe/make meaning of twitter chat events that would help demonstrate their viability and potential to the academic community. Especially helpful are measurement scales, surveys, or data points to track that a journal might potentially be interested in. Any resources, tips, citations you could share with us much appreciated!

The Social Work Podcast is back - and not a moment too soon. In the United States we're just about to finish up Social Work Month. I wanted to celebrate USA social work by providing some food-for-thought about how social work in the USA is similar to and different from social work in the UK. Check out my Skype interview with David Niven. +1 and shares are appreciated. The SWP's absence has all but eliminated its ranking in people's news feeds, so your help in getting the word out is much appreciated.

What other apps have social workers developed? What other apps do you recommend to help with therapeutic goals? (link source: HUSITA email list, http://www.husita.org).
There are lots of apps out there that claim to improve your mental health, but precious few have actually been tested to see if they work. Psychologists are starting to give that a try.

I think the developers are psychologists but Recovery Record is an eating disorder "therapy" app. And not technically an app, but Crisis Text Line is using SMS to deliver suicide and other crisis intervention to young people. They have a social worker on staff and on their board and the project is underwritten by Do Something.
