“Thank You Kaleta!!”
5 of 5 stars
A beautiful apartment within the palace walls of Old Town Split. Beautifully decorated with antiques and local art. Room and bathroom exquisitely clean and comfortable... we hated to leave! Kaleta Apartments are highly recommended while staying in Split!

The Kaleta Apartments Lounge, Iza Loze 4, Split, Croatia,
Is elegantly decorated with graceful antiques, including a 2,000-year-old Roman amphora, once used to transport spices from Africa.
History:
Amphora dated to around 4800 BC have been found in Banpo, a Neolithic site of the Yang Shao Culture in China. In the West, Amphorae first appeared on the Syrian coast around 3500 BCE and spread around the ancient world, being used by the ancient Greeks and Romans as the principal means for transporting and storing grapes, olive oil, wine, oil, olives, grain, fish, and other commodities. They were produced on an industrial scale from Greek times and used around the Mediterranean until about the 7th century. Wooden and skin containers seem to have supplanted amphorae thereafter.

“Stay here! You will not be disappointed!”
5 of 5 stars - JessRimington, Washington, D.C.
From the moment I entered Split I was overwhelmed by the beauty, history and uniqueness of the city! I went immediately to check into the Kaleta Apartments ... and, boy(!), was the apartment a welcome site for a weary traveler! It was beautifully kept and very clean. When I opened the wooden shades and the apartment filled with soft sunlight and down below I could see the winding cobbled streets of Split! The first thing I did was take a shower. I don't normally comment on showers...but I was particularly impressed with the water pressure and water heater that kept the water warm even through my very long (& much needed) shower! There was even a laptop on the table in the apartment where I could use high-speed internet. Kaleta Apartments was reasonably priced and offered very comfortable accommodations. I would definitely return here! I hope to bring my mother to Kaleta Apartments one day so she is able to fall in love with Split like I did! Don't pass up the opportunity to stay here!

Beautiful studio apartment with awesome location”
5 of 5 stars, NinoNJ, Cliffside Park, NJ
From the beginning, our stay here was most pleasant. We were met at the ferry terminal by our English speaking hosts who walked us to the apartment (about a five minute walk from the ferry terminal through Diocletian's Palace). The apartment was literally within the palace walls in an old Croatian home. You walked outside the apartments and were surrounded by cafes and the the shopping center of Split.
The apartment was obviously recently renovated and had a very home feel to it. Hand-painted paintings adorned the original brick wall. Studio apartment was fully furnished and very clean. Amenities included a mini-kitchen with stove, air conditioning, satellite TV, stand up shower with massaging heads, and double bed. Most importantly for me, the apartment had free WIFI internet and a computer in the room to access the internet.
Outside the main entrance there were two cafes and a few shops. Within a few minutes of a walk were the main city attractions and the Split Riviera. The main beach, Bacvice, was about a fifteen minute walk away. The main bus terminal/ferry terminal/airport shuttle were all about a five minute walk.
Had a great stay, would definitely recommend!

A very nice room, smack in the middle of Split, inside the palace of Diocletian. Bit noisy in the evenings, but quiet at nights. It had a very good double bed, and a luxurious shower. Though not used by us, it had also a small kitchen, complete with all the utensils. Free wifi.
The owner was very friendly and helpful. Also for us a Travelers' Choice Winner!

I booked Kaleta Apartments (room 4) after reading excellent reviews and was happy to find they were true. The location is fantastic, right in the middle of the old town but very quiet. The room is decorated very nicely. We were allowed to check in early. There is a computer with free internet. The price was great for how lovely the apartment was. Unfortunately the weather was a bit rainy but Split is still a beautiful place. I would not hesitate to recommend this apartment and can think of no complaints.

“I haven't stayed everywhere in Split... but now I don't need too”

I have stayed in Kaleta apartments on 4 different occasions, Each time in a different apartment ( I have stayed in two apartments above Teak Café, and two down the street). Each time everything has been fantastic, all of the apartments are situated in old city of Split with all the charm that could be asked for. This time I was in one of the apartments above Teak Café. I have met the owner (a bald, well spirited croat) and spoke with him a few times. He is always has the utmost concern about our stay and personally makes sure our trip is the best. I won't stay anywhere else in Split.

“A really amazing experience - Thank you!”

While traveling to Croatia, I spent a total of 3 days in Split at Kaleta Apartments. I had the pleasure of staying in two different apartment buildings because I traveled to Hvar for a day in the middle. The first two nights I stayed in Apartment 1, and the last night I stayed in the Suite with the pull-out couch. I can't tell you which location I liked better, because they were both so amazing!
Apartment 1 is located right next to a bunch of little shops and cafes, making it very easy to get a quick bite to eat. The Suite was a little more secluded, off of a side street, but still within the walls of Diocletian's Palace and only a 2-3 minute walk from the other set of apartments. I can't even begin to describe how amazing the location of these apartments is. It feels as though you have been transported back in time and are roaming around on the Roman alleyways of Diocletian's day. Every turn feels like a new adventure. The rooms themselves were extremely charming with hints of Croatian history mixed in with modern times. And of course, they were very clean and comfortable. Both rooms had Wifi and computer access. We always ate out, but there was a nice little kitchenette available as well.
The hosts were very accommodating, thoughtful, and courteous. They were able to work around our schedules and helped us navigate not only Split, but the rest of Croatia. I was very impressed with their kindness and would highly recommend Kaleta Apartments to anyone visiting Croatia.

“Back again and looking forward to my next visit - Really the best”
 5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 4, 2013
This is my 3rd time staying in Kaleta Apartments - every time, I'm blown away by the shear awesomeness of the experience. This time, I stayed in the recently expanded set of apartments a hundred or so meters from the original apartments. Still within the walls of Diocletian's Palace, these apartments are seconds away from the hustle and bustle off the main squares of Split but in a secluded ally in the old city that offers complete peace and quiet - an unparalleled dichotomy. The apartments are decorated with modern and antique relics of Diocletian's Palace and Split artwork. Naturally, there is Wifi, satellite TV, computer, fridge, and massage showers - all of which makes leaving the apartments difficult. Seconds away from all the historic attractions of Split including the Riva, Sv. Duje, the ferry, bus station, cafes, etc. About a ten minute walk from the beach and night life of Split. It is a family run set of apartments with incredibly welcoming hosts who will greet you with some domestic cookies/fruits. They will escort you to your apartments and ensure that everything about your visit to Split is perfect. Hosts were also able to help with onward travel to Hvar - ferry and accommodation arrangements. Highly recommend!

“Lovely Apartment”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 4, 2013 via mobile
We stayed here for two nights the first week of May. Our communication with the owners was great right from the beginning to when we met to get the keys. The apartment has a great location, plenty of restaurants and attractions within a five minute walk. The apartment was very clean, furnished in a wonderful antique style and just a great value for staying in the Diocletian's Palace.

My friend & I rented an apartment for 4 days while visiting Split. We loved the location (right in Old Town) and felt like locals throughout our stay. The apartment is immaculate and spacious; very comfortable. The owners are very nice - met us at the apartment upon arriving, providing umbrellas for the unfortunately bad weather, and answering questions promptly. There is free wifi and a desktop computer for use in the living room area.

“Amazing location!”
 4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 27, 2013
We recently stayed in Apartment Piazza for 3 nights as part of our honeymoon in Croatia. The location is absolutely amazing, right in the heart of the Diocletian Palace. While the apartment is located between 2 very busy cafes/bars, the windows offer great noise reduction and the apartment has air conditioning. We easily met the owner, Nino, who was very friendly and helpful. Even though he does not live on site, he can easily be contacted via phone or the intercom buzzer. The apartment was nicely decorated and very comfortable. It had a small kitchen and a bathroom which had a massage shower. There are many great restaurants and cafes close by and the harbour is a short walk from the apartment. I would definitely stay here again if I return to Split. Thanks for a wonderful stay.

“Best place to stay in Diocletian's Palace, Split”
 5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 11, 2013
I have booked stay in Kaleta Apartments twice last year and I was extremely surprised with excellent price and oustanding behavior of owner Mr. Novica Raic. Property is located in the old part of Split (Diocletian's Palace) and it's featuring spacious rooms with comfortable King-size bed, free Wi-Fi, massage shower, small kitchen, etc.

Im warmly recommending "Kaleta Apartments" because this is place where you can truly experience Split and Dalmatia.
