2016 Campaign Embed at NBC News
Introduction
Kailani is reporting on the 2016 presidential race as a campaign embed for NBC News/NBC Politics.

Before this, she worked for two and a half years at msnbc as a multimedia editor. While at msnbc, she produced video pieces and wrote stories for msnbc.com, covering everything from the aftermath of the Boston Marathon bombings, to the 2014 midterm elections, to the status of same-sex marriage across the country, to U.S. space exploration, and so much more. She also helmed msnbc.com's historical political video coverage, and helped produce The Briefing with Luke Russert, the digital political show on SHIFT by msnbc.

Prior to joining msnbc, she helped launch and run The Boston Globe's award-winning website, BostonGlobe.com. She helped grow the organization's social media presence and spearheaded several major online projects, including an examination of the Massachusetts health care law and the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum art heist.

She also worked as a web producer at New England Cable News (NECN), covering breaking news and politics across Boston and New England's 7 states.

She graduated from Emerson College in Boston with a degree in Broadcast Journalism and a minor in Political Science. There she worked as a reporter, producer, and News Director of the college television station, WEBN, and reported on the ground from the '08 Iowa caucuses, '08 DNC in Denver, '09 Presidential Inauguration, and '09 G-20 Summit in Pittsburgh.

She grew up interning and working with various media outlets in the Seattle area, including The Seattle Times, The Seattle Post-Intelligencer, and KIRO Radio.
