Here are my pictures from my day in Coyote Buttes north. It was a very cold day, with some sun, some rain, some hail and lots of wind. The weather forecast was partially resposible for me getting a permit in the first place. Only 40 people were playing for the 10 available permits in the lottery, where the previous two days there were 70. Still, I only got one permit and I had to leave my friend behind for the day. The mixed weather did mean I had nice soft light for most of the day, excellent for photography.
Coyote Buttes north is famous for The Wave but I didn't know how many other remarkable features are crammed into this small area. There were lace rocks, brain rocks, and endless striations in vibrant colors. After every picture it would only take a few steps to find the next remarkable object. In fact the excitement of seeing all this for the first time was so big I made quite a few mistakes with my pictures. This spot is definately worth revisiting many times.
