Rooms and bathrooms a bit dated (carpet could really use a refresh, what's up with the bathroom of mirrors) but has excellent beach, comfortable seating at pool and beach, and attentive service. Can't beat the view of dolphins frolicking about. Might think about stepping it up a notch on the drinks since a few places in Waikiki have better mai tais (no little umbrellas here, boo). Shuttle to Waikiki fairly convenient though can get booked up. Nice for those of us who want to avoid the party crowds. Package with breakfast buffet is a must or you'll be stuck paying way too much. Dining options are pricey since you're captive - get the ahi burger at Plumeria - at $18, it's pricey but that's to be expected.

OK, its been a few years and the Hotel has gone through changes. But the Service level and facilities have been upheld and we would not hesitate to return.

The Kahala Hotel & Resort supports Localicious Hawaii in March
http://www.kahalaresort.com/blog/
What is Localicious Hawaii?
Nearly twenty-five years ago, the Hawai‘i Regional Cuisine movement, brought together twelve local chefs to promote Hawai‘i as a food destination and to promote an agricultural network so that chefs and restaurants had access to locally grown produce. Today, hundreds of restaurants support our local farmers, ranchers and fishermen and we want to make sure the public understands the important role they play in supporting local agriculture. The goal of Localicious Hawai‘i is to raise $50,000 for HAF’s Veggie U program.

The Hawai‘i Agricultural Foundation (HAF) will launch Localicious Hawai‘i from March 1 – 31, 2014 for the first annual statewide campaign to raise funds for agricultural education by teaming up with local restaurants that are committed to buying local.

How can you help?

Eat at Hoku's or Plumeria Beach House during the month of March and order one of the dish(es) below.  Please ask your server for the Localicious dish of the day. Each time the dish is ordered, restaurants will donate $1 to HAF’s Veggie U educational program. Hukilau returns for one day only as a special 50th Anniversary Golden Jubilee Event March 21. A #Hukilau is a traditional way of fishing in Hawaii. The word comes from huki, meaning pull, and lau, meaning leaves. People gathered and worked together in casting the net from shore and then pulling it back. The net was lined with ti leaves, which would help scare the fish into the center of the net. Plumeria Beach House honors this tradition with a Hukilau event with Hawaiian entertainment and a Polynesian buffet. http://goo.gl/xpYBCy #tbt #tni

Inspired by the earliest residents of Hawaii, the Hula is both a dance and a ceremony. The Kahala Spa therapists have combined Hula with Lomilomi massage to create a unique treatment using motions of the dance, rhythms of the music, and the power of spirits to evoke health and peace.
