Cost of Justice in Brexiting Britain

Immigration appeal fees have increased dramatically overnight. This affects not only migrants, it is telltale of general trends in the British society in Brexit mode. Where the law is uncertain or cannot be enforced, political agenda substitutes law and slogans substitute substance. Ironically, the most draconian denial of access to justice is introduced under the slogan "justice for all".

Representing a client in an immigration appeal may be compared to a learned discussion in a seminar, say, at Oxford or Cambridge. In a quiet exchange of thoughts, possibly questions and answers, we are trying to reach for the truth. I recall a few questions from those academic dialogues, that baffled me with the simplicity and profundity of message... #Immigration

Surprise home visits by the immigration police inquiring into the genuineness of the couple's marital relationship is of growing concern in the UK. Apparently, the fact that the couple have a child does not automatically exempt them from the investigation scheme. This blog discusses the optimal dress code for the early morning surprise parties, as nightwear etiquette is not negligible when it comes to decision making process

This post is about my perplexity, revulsion and ultimate horror at what is going on here. And by here I mean HERE.

These shocking statistics from the #HomeOffice  would be of major concern for the campaigners for Children's Rights: out of the total 4895 applications for permission to remain in the UK as the primary #carers of the British citizens (mainly British citizen children), only 115 were granted approval in the 30 months between March 2011 and September 2013. By comparison, 1375 were refused and 1770 were "rejected" - apparently meaning "refused without the right of appeal"; 1470 have not been decided more than six months after the applications were made.

Shocking statistics from #UKImmigration  related to success rate of the applications for permission to remain in the UK by the  #Carers  of the British citizens (mainly British citizen children)  relying on the ECJ judgment in the case of #Zambrano . In the 2.5 years between March 2011 and September 2013 only 115 out of the total 4895 applications were successful. Apparently, at least 3875 applications were related to the rights of British children. The total number of refused applications is above 3140 - this includes those "rejected" without a right of appeal and those "refused" on consideration. Thirty five applications were made by the spouses or partners of the British citizens claiming to be their primary carers - of these, 25 are still pending before the Home Office.
