K&S Heating and Air Conditioning opened in October of 1988 with just 8 employees. Thanks to much hard work and the support of the Rochester community, K&S has grown to employ 60 plus people. In the early days we seldom left the Rochester city limits, but now our sales and service personnel travel into northern Iowa, western Wisconsin, the southern Twin Cities, and most of south central and southeast Minnesota.

Our product mix has grown as well. Traditional furnace and air conditioning home comfort products from Lennox and Carrier is how we built the business, but now we feature geothermal, solar, heat pumps, dual fuel, in floor heat, and hybrid heat products as well. In addition, K&S offers indoor air quality testing and products, humidification and de-humidification equipment, whole home air filtration, duct cleaning, as well as radon testing and mitigation.

Our plumbing department offers traditional and tankless water heaters, water softeners, boilers, water pressure boosters, sump pumps and sump pump back up systems, replacement bathroom and kitchen fixtures, water quality testing and water leak protection.

We round out our services with our electrical department. Having our own electricians allows us to offer a one day installation for most of our home comfort products. In addition, we provide whole home generators, lighting of all types, replacement fixtures, service upgrades, and most other electrical services.

We are proud to say, "one call does it all" when it comes to your home's heating, cooling, plumbing and electrical needs. You will enjoy professional and knowledgeable people who strive to deliver 100% customer satisfaction every time we are invited into your home or business.

The installation of our furnace, air conditioner went fast and flawless. This is the quietest furnace I have ever been around. The iComfort app has been fun to use and I have had no problems learning it. I am looking forward to the savings since we went from a builders grade 80% efficient furnace to the 98% efficient furnace. I would recommend my installers from K&S Heating and Plumbing to anyone in the Rochester, MN area.

I called at 3:00 a.m. on 2/11/16 and left a message that our heater had stopped working. Called back at 6:30 a.m. (they opened at 6:00 that day) and found that a call had been scheduled for 7:30 a.m.and she was just waiting for the team to confirm before calling me back.I pushed the time back to 8:00 a.m. because I had to get my daughter to school. I was home at 7:59 and Mike and Devin were waiting for me. They were both very nice and professional and within 30 minutes, they had diagnosed the problem (dirty pilot light sensor), fixed it, replaced my furnace filter and were ready to go. To say I'm pleased is an understatement. I've used K&S in the past, and will use them in the future. Very happy with the service.

I hired them to do the duct work for my basement. When the work did not pass inspection and I called them to have them come and fix the problem, I was told that it would be an additional charge. I asked why that would be since they should know the building codes and was told that I just got the wrong inspector and it wasn't their fault. I would never let K&S do any work ever on my home again.
Response from the owner - 3 months ago
Upon further review we have discovered that the work Mr Harden is referring to was performed in 2007. At that time the work performed did indeed pass inspection. Today K&S Heating and Air Conditioning has contacted Mr Harden to seek a resolution even though a significant amount of time has passed since the work was completed. Mr Harden decided that he would not like to seek a resolution with K&S Heating and Air Conditioning.

My AC was not working in the middle of July. I called K&S explaining my situation. We agreed to have it looked at the following Friday. They sent a technician who spent ten minutes looking, answered another phone call, and attempted to leave. When asked a few times what was wrong with my unit, the technician said he did not know, that he would call the following Monday with a diagnosis (saying maybe it had to do with the freon), and that I should just keep my fan on in the mean time. Monday came and went without a call, from the technician or K&S. The summer heat and humidity ended up killing all of my precious houseplants. I called Haley Comfort Systems and they promptly came out, quickly diagnosed the problem (the fan blowing on the evaporator coil was dislodged) and fixed it. The following October (three months later) K&S sent a bill for $176.61, not specifying what any of the charges were for. When I asked what the charges were for, I never got a clear answer. I asked to speak to a supervisor, manager, and even the owner and was denied access. All I wanted was a solution, but their solution seems to be blindly paying them for no service done for me. They have intimidated me (threatening to damage my credit for not paying them for no services done to my AC unit), so I am taking it upon myself to let everyone know that this is a dishonest company with only its financial interest in mind. If you're looking for HVAC services, I recommend Haley instead.

Response from the owner - a month ago
Our K&S tech was at the customers home for two hours (not 10 minutes) diagnosing the problem and determining the proper pathway to repair their unit. The A/C had a defective expansion valve. We advised the home owner “in detail" the cost to repair their A/C and they declined to have it fixed. We never fix any homeowners equipment without permission. Due to their decision to not repair their A/C, we invoiced the homeowner at our normal rate for our technicians travel and diagnostic time in home. No payment has occurred since July of 2015, so we were finally were forced to take legal action to receive payment. These are the facts. K&S has a 98%+ customer satisfaction rating through independent reviews performed by Lennox Industries. Our No. 1 goal everyday is 100% customer satisfaction. That involves everyone at K&S.

I have been a Loyal K&S customer for over 20 years, but this week I got what can only be described as unacceptable customer service. I have a Lennox furnace that K&S installed in 2011. This summer the blower module and motor went out and it was covered under warranty, except the labor to replace it. Now this week it went out again. K&S was out on Tuesday 12/29. The technician had to go back to the store to see if they had the part. He said he would call me. 2 hours later still no call, so I called and after being transferred to the parts department I was told the part had been ordered and would be in Wednesday and that they would call as soon as it got in. Wednesday no call, so again I called and after being transferred around found it hadn't come in, but should be in Thursday. Well Thursday again I get no call, so I call again and I get this from the representative who answered the phone "We don't control the mail". Then after asking to talk to the parts department she said "Well they are doing inventory, so they are in and out, not sure they'll answer", so I asked to talk to a manager. She then said "Well good luck, she'll tell you the same thing". That's how they treat customers? I was able to reach Marilyn the service manager. She explained that they don't track parts orders. Then she went on to explain that some customers wait up to 10 days for parts to come in, and that they don't control that. I explained that she does control being able to find out if the part was actually shipped, and she agreed to look into it and get back to me. Well 3:45pm after 3 hours I decided once again to call back, since Marilyn did not call me. I got the answering service who explained that K&S was apparently closed for the day as they had transferred their phones. The person stated they had no notice that they would be closing early, but since the phones were transferred, he knew they were closed. It's bad enough having a new furnace motor go out twice in 4 years, but to have a company that doesn't even care enough about their customers to do a simple phone call is horrid. So it's 13 degrees and I will be without a furnace at least till Monday the 4th. That's nearly a week without a furnace that is 4 years old and K&S comforts me with "Some people wait 10 days for a part". They won't even take 5 minutes to confirm that the part has actually shipped. I have no idea how they keep customers, but they won't keep this one.

Paid $450 for them to fix our central air conditioner before Labor Day--worked for 2 days and then died. Contacted the Service person and they came out and put dye in to see if we had a leak somewhere, saying he'd be back in a few days to check it.....promised to come on several different occasions, and no showed each time. Talked to someone at K&S and expressed our frustration this past week--and was told "they'd get back to us". Still waiting to hear from them--the only thing they sent was an invoice for the $450 bill that we'd paid. We've spent close to $1000 for them to fix the problem, and still have an AC that doesn't work. Wouldn't recommend them unless they miraculously step up to the plate and make things right.
