We had a blast at the 2015 Rose Festival Grand Floral Parade! Thanks to our volunteers who walked, and the Classic Car Club of America for tremendous support. Can't wait to do it again next year!

For his ongoing series "Art History in Contemporary Life," Ukrainian artist Alexey Kondakov takes scenes and figures lifted from classical paintings and drops them into modern-day life. Bouguereau's Song of the Angels appears to take place on an empty subway car while a pair of men

Fascinating article on piano technique from the 18th century!
A music scholar plays classical piano pieces with techniques that 19th-century performers learned, producing a markedly different effect that researchers are studying.

Forget vinyl. This is truly old school...whispering pines.
This artist has created a record player that translates the different colors and textures of tree rings into music. It makes you wonder what types of music other parts of nature would play.

The music world suffered a great loss with the passing of James Horner last week. A tribute is up on our blog, courtesy of our intern Jonathan. Be sure to tune-in for Edmund's tribute to Horner on The Score July 11th.

Now is the time to sign-up for "we love this music," a project to support All Classical Portland in partnership with Charles Fine Art Portraits. Dedicated to the talented young musicians of our region, Christa Wessel says of the project, “When complete, we love this music will be a beautiful showcase of the young talent which adds such cultural depth and richness to the region we love, the very future of classical music.” Visit www.welovethismusic.org to claim your page!
The book will have two main sections: A fine art portrait of the young artist with a caption (name, instrument, for example) - this is the front section of the book. A thumbnail of the image, the page number it appears on in section one, and a story about the young muscian - these are in the ...

This is a great radio station. All classical Portland reminds me of what we Canadian's use to have in our CBC. After the CBC all but gave up on classical programming I went looking for a new station to fill the void during my work day. It took quite a while but eventually I came across All Classical Portland. The hosts are easy to listen to and the programming is excellent!

Earlier this afternoon I heard that no one on the radio had heard of anyone named "Granville" and my great grandfather was Granville M. Brown. Born in Ohio and crossed the plains in a covered wagon as a toddler, and lived in Brownsville Oregon, and Dallas Oregon. Though I never met him, I was intrigued by his first name. Thank you for your wonderful selections I listen while sewing and looking out the window at our trees. Your patter during the pledge drive is quite entertaining to me. Thank you. I have listened to my mother and my grandmother play classical music on piano, and on records. My father called it "long hair music" and disparaged it a bit, in favor of his big band dance music and later jazz. I never had an opportunity to take music lessons, but all musicians need appreciative audiences, and that is where I fit in. I do have a question: Back in the 1940's my Grandmother's favorite radio station was KWJJ, which played classical music. I wonder if it was the genesis for All Classical Portland music. I don't recall the stations I listened to in the 1960's as a young mother, but classical music has been a huge part of my 74 years.

I've lived in several cities with classical music radio stations. Without a doubt, All Classical Portland is the finest I've ever heard. Outstanding playlist, educational, and awesome, classy staff. They lift my spirit every single day! We are incredibly fortunate to call Portland Oregon its home. ACP is finally moving to beautiful, new diggs after 30 years! Please support All Classical Portland which stands on its own treble clef legs and give us the pure joy of classical music!
