As the title says, I’m officially on WhoSay.com now! Just setup my profile in WhoSay.com, the first media company that’s powered by celebrities themselves, after I’ve accepted their invitation a few days back and I am ready to make my first post anytime from now.

It’s recent partnership with Time Inc.’s PEOPLE, the world’s most successful entertainment magazine brand, on 26 March 2014 also marks the first time the celebrities can now immediately publish content on PEOPLE.com along with their current social channels.

Here’s a glimpse on how my profile looks like in WhoSay.com and my profile link at http://www.whosay.com/justinngphotography

Ever wondered if the controversial image I've published is real or fake? This is the question people always ask me every time I’ve posted a never-before-seen star trails image or Milky Way image taken in Singapore. Then I realized regardless of my reply, t

"How I Photograph the Milky Way from Light-Polluted Skies of Singapore"

This tutorial shows you how I photograph the Milky Way that's obscured by the extreme light pollution in Singapore, using photography equipments that you may already have and a workflow that probably works on most versions of Photoshop. I will be using a single exposure  image that I took from Sentosa, Singapore on 06 March 2014 to show you how it can be achieved without purchasing additional plugins for Photoshop.

"Rising Milky Way above Marina Bay Sands and Spectacular Laser Show in Singapore"

The image is a result of stacking several exposures taken, without moving the camera or changing the lens, over a period of approximately 35 minutes. It shows you how the night sky looked like at 9.10PM SGT before the spectacular laser show started from 9.30PM SGT onwards.

A recent study suggests that Singapore was ranked as second safest out of 99 countries and this may also imply that the heavy light pollution here could have helped maintain the city's low crime rate. So, light pollution will continue to be an ever-growing

After having visited Mount Bromo several times over the past two years, I must say it's definitely much more active now and part of the night sky was obscured by the sulphur dioxide gas emitted from Mount Bromo when I took this shot. At times, we were "consumed" by the sulphur gas for several minutes due to the occasional change in wind direction and we could hardly breathe or kept our eyes opened when that happened. Despite these challenging shooting and viewing conditions, the natives or tourists will still ascend the steep stone staircase (approximately 253 concrete steps) that leads to the brim of the steaming, sulphurous, gaping caldera to catch a glimpse of the scenic sunrise every morning. About an hour before sunrise, I've made a difficult decision to move to another viewpoint because we couldn't see a thing for a prolonged period of time.

Introduction

About Justin Ng

In the world of photography, the name Justin Ng is steadily rising and becoming recognized as an award-winning photographer based in Singapore.  Starting out as a self-taught photographer in September 2010, Justin Ng has garnered his photographic experience from a diverse range of subjects, events and locations eventually earning recognition and publication in world-famous media sources like the BBC, CNN, National Geographic, Yahoo!, Space.com, EarthSky, UniverseToday and just to name afew. In February 2014, Justin has been contracted as one of the contributors at Space.com. Check out his first space article here.

To learn more about him and what is in store for you with respect to his special skills, here are some of the categories that he excels in:

Actual Day, ROM and Pre-Wedding Photography

Justin Ng officially started with wedding photography when he first launched his business via Facebook in September 2010.  Within a few months, he was granted admission to three premiere photography associations:  (1) The AG|WPJA or the Artistic Guild of the Wedding Photojournalist Association, which is an international organization of wedding photojournalists who shoot in artistic styles and capture unscripted wedding moments; (2) The Wedding and Portrait Photographers International (WPPI) which is dedicated to the special interests and needs of wedding and portrait photographers; and, (3) the Royal Photographic Society which is the world’s oldest photographic society in existence.

In the years that followed since he started his wedding photography business, he has received multiple awards from the AG|WPJA international wedding photography competitions and he has been named as one of Asia’s Top 30 Photographers by Signature Weddings.

Sports and Events Photography

On the other side of the broad spectrum of capturing images, Justin Ng established himself more than capable of capturing highly dynamic and intense photographs that are more sports and event related.  For instance, he became an official photographer of Singapore Karting Championship several times in 2012.  He also became official photographer for Singapore National Games, One Fighting Championship and SCC Rugby 7s at Padang in the same year.

His first stint as an events photographer started during the Vision Magic by Lawrence Khong and Priscilla Khong, and Chingay 2011 celebration, after which, he became its official photographer for the event in the succeeding years, 2012, 2013 and 2014.  He was also the official photographer for Miss Bikini International Singapore 2012.

Astrophotography

Among his many claims to fame, Justin Ng can be considered highly famous because of his astounding astrophotographs that have found their way into the most notable publications.  It was during most of 2013 when his astrophotographs landed in National Geographic, like his photos of the Milky Way in Mount Bromo and his photo of the Eta Aquarid Meteor became one of National Geographic Editors’ Favorites.  His photo of 3 native Indonesians under the Milky Way galaxy which was published in National Geographic was ranked No. 2 among more than 1.4 million photos.  His “Yi Peng Lantern Festival” photo was also featured in the same magazine as well as in the New York Daiy News, Huffington Post, Time Magazine, The Guardian, The Washington Post and other news media.

Other astrophotographs like the Perseids Meteor Shower, Nova Delphini 2013, Moon Halo and Milkyway, Comet ISON and Lovejoy images were picked up by online science sites like EarthSky.org, UniverseToday and Space.com.

Timelapse Photography

In 2012, Justin Ng expanded his bag of tricks and moved up a level into Timelapse Photography.  His most famous Timelapse video, the Mount Bromo Timelapse movie, was featured in both EarthSky’s and Space.com’s Facebook page and website, several times.  The actual story of the video was featured in WorldNews.com, Mashable, Mother Nature Network and other related online sites.  In fact, this video won the Grand Prize in the World Photography Awards (Timelapse category) and PDN Photo Annual Winner of the Year on April 2013.
