+Eric Davis fabulous news. I am no longer working for the Ministry of Education because now I am a headmaster at a small, rural high school. Currently the students' English skills are too low to have any kind of contact or collaboration with you all. But I plan on changing that so that we can do some sort or project together some time.
I have set up a complete composting system at my school. My friend +Vahid Masrour predicted that it would take about 2 hours for me to set it up but it took nearly 2 months.
Here you can see students taking the kitchen waste to the compost bins and layering it with leaves. There are 15 of these bins and they are filled in order. Once they have all been filled, it is time to harvest the first one. Harvesting means taking it over to the worm bin and dumping the contents there. Then the compost bin is filled up again.
We have composted about two 5-gallon buckets of kitchen waste every day. I will post some more pictures of the worm bin. #compost
This article has caused a great impact on me. It is very well written and researched. MLM's only seem to be growing in popularity, which doesn't make any sense at all given how each MLM can never grow to the size they claim they will otherwise each one would be bigger than the US economy in a matter of months. On the contrary, they are designed for a large number of their salespeople to fail. The fact that they continue to exist is a testament to the power of persuasion, marketing and ambition.
Actor Rainn Wilson wrote an article about the Baha'i Fast last year. Take a look via the link below and then please share your thoughts about the Fast with us here.
I submit this as the world record for the different kinds of waste collected in a single place. I found this in a gas station pretty much in the middle of nowhere.
Here we have from left to right: dry sand, organic waste, glass, paper and cardboard, plastic, contaminated sand, contaminated gasoline and greases. I just hope these aren't all thrown into a single garbage bin on garbage day!
”3 MYTHS THAT BLOCK PROGRESS FOR THE POOR By almost any measure, the world is better than it has ever been. People are living longer, healthier lives. Many nations that were aid recipients are now self-sufficient. You might think that such striking progress would be widely celebrated, but in fact, Melinda and I are struck by how many people think the world is getting worse. The belief that the world can’t solve extreme poverty and disease isn’t just mistaken. It is harmful.”
That’s the intro for Gates’s annual letter of his foundation. It goes on to address---and explode---each myth in detail:
This is a truly inspiring interview! Living on Earth speaks with Lois Gibbs, the person that led the Love Canal protests, about her life since then and the lessons she learned from that experience. She impressed me with her wisdom, humility and intelligence. She is a model for pro environmental social action.
